"Not the nose. The eyes." Theo said with a dry chuckle. "You're not exactly proving your point."

Hazel huffed, looking away. 'Well I said it, and that should be enough for you.'

"No, you have to look me in the eye." Theo protested. "Otherwise I won't believe you."

'Fine then, don't believe me.'

"Alright. What's wrong?" Theo asked, now certain Hazel was definitely not fine, no matter what she told him.

'Nothing,' she said.

"Well obviously SOMETHING'S wrong. Maybe telling me will make you feel better."

'I'm sure it won't,' Hazel said coldly.

"Fine, don't tell me." Theo said, irritated and slightly hurt that Hazel wouldn't tell them anything.

Hazel stuffed her hands in her blazer pocket, staring at the ground. They got to the tuckshop.

Theo followed her, not saying anything more.

'Do you have any food?' she asked Theo, taking out her lunch money.

"No." Theo said, shaking his head. "I'll pay you back."

'In what, French money?' Hazel asked, shaking her head. She handed him five bucks. 'I insist.'

"I converted my money!" Theo protested, though he took the money. "Thanks."
