‘Used to?’ Collins asked, searching up “maintaining fish” into YouTube. Quite a few results showed up. ‘Before the director die- er, disappeared?’

"pam actually stayed afterwards. She left after the assistant researcher said something weird about her." Florence said. He mimicked a woman shouting pervert from a distance.

Collins nodded. ‘Oh, er, alright,’ she said. ‘Well, I found a bunch of videos,’ she added quickly, holding up her phone so Florence could see in an attempt to change the subject.

Florence was enamored by the bright light and colors. He mimicked a parakeet

Collins chuckled, pressing on one of the videos. 'You can watch one if you want.'

"This one looks pretty." Florence said clicking on a video about beta fish. He trilled as he looked at the brightly colored fish

Collins smiled and sat her phone on the ground for him to watch, then rummaged through her backpack.

Florence leaned forward and shifted his weight between his feet. He started to trill louder just watching the fish.

Collins took out the half of her peanut butter sandwich she’d saved and took a small bite.

Florence lightly flapped his wings as his pupils dilated.

Collins watched him, then looked down at the video. ‘Uh, you good?’ she asked with a nervous chuckle, hoping he wasn’t getting worked up by a bunch of colourful fish.

Florence looked up stunned for a minute as his eyes shrunk back to normal size. "It's the light, sorry." Florence said. He mimicked the electronic buzz of a florescent light.

‘The light? Is it too bright?’ Collins asked, grabbing the phone and turning it down.

"no, it's been awhile since I got to stare directly into a light." Florence said flattening his wings slightly.

Collins frowned. ‘How long has it been since you went outside?’ she asked, setting the phone back on the ground for him.
