"the scientists... Could be kind of mean. Some of them would hurt us. They... They did it for fun sometimes." Florence said. His eye were welling up with tears as he pulled his knees up to his chest. Small scars were littered through the now exposed flesh of his wounds. They were itchy to Florence. The confrontation made them itchy.

‘Oh,’ Collins said. She sat down next to him. ‘I’m sorry that happened. None of you guys deserved that.’

"it's fine though. They're all gone. The bad ones anyways. Except for the assistant researcher that is. But not all people are bad. I mean, look at you, you're super nice. You helped me sneak into the zoo and you helped me remove that glass from my hands when we first met." Florence said. He mimicked the melody from his heart

Collins gave a slight smile. She crossed her legs, still a bit jumpy from that interaction with the Riley creature. ‘You’re super nice too.’

Florence smiled. "Thank you Collins. I'm sorry I scared you earlier." Florence said.

‘That’s okay. It was more Riley that scared me,’ Collins said, smiling back.

"Riley wouldn't have been there if I wasn't on that floor. I would've slept in my room but..." Florence said. His wings drooped as if he was disappointed in himself. "The beds are comfier on that floor. My bed is stiff and it smells gross. The beds on the researchers floor smell like grass and they're like a big pillow.

‘Why don’t you just take the beds from the researcher’s room and put it on your own?’ Collins asked. ‘It’d be easier than having to sleep in a different room.’

"I'd better not. I'd get in trouble when the creator returns. I don't want him to yell at me." Florence said. He mimicked an angry grunt.

‘I, er, doubt that,’ Collins said. ‘If it helps you sleep better then I think you should.’

"do you really think he won't be mad?" Florence asked. He looked directly at Collins. Florence had natural puppy dog eyes that were now directed at their full power at Collins.

Collins looked at him. She barely suppressed her laugh. ‘Yeah, I think he’ll understand. Those beds are pretty uncomfortable,’ she said.

"they give me back aches and sore wings. Sometimes I prefer to just put a pillow on the floor instead of sleeping on the bed." Florence said.

‘Which is why you should take one of the researcher’s beds. They won’t be mad,’ Collins said

"we can probably move it in a bit. After Riley calms down. I don't want to be out there with them." Florence said. He rubbed his wings in the spots he was lacking feathers.
