"I'd just like to buy my groceries." Valako said. "She walked in here with a mask and silently watched me from the shelves. It was malicious." The cashier said. "Well, we can't do anything about that." The officer said.

Jonah didn't say anything more, he just watched the whole thing unfold.

"maybe if you take off that mask he won't be so scared." The cop said jovially. "I... don't think it would sir. Can't I buy my groceries and go home?" She asked "show us the face." The cashier said

"Trust me, she's not a robber." Jonah said. "Can you please just let her go?"

"well, we wanna see her face to make sure she's trustworthy." The officer said. Valako's shoulders sunk. She should've waited for this shopping trip.

Jonah looked at Valako apologetically, not thinking of a good argument against it.

Valako took off her veil and the police gasped in shock. "I'd like to pay now." Valako said, letting her veil fall back to her face.

Jonah winced. He knew Valako was beautiful, even if nobody agreed, but it was hard having to witness the cashier and the cops reactions.

The cashier was paler than a ghost as he scanned her items. The police were still frozen in shock. Valako was used to this. She got out her debit card and waited for the cashier to finish scanning her items.

After a minute or two the cashier motioning to the credit card scanner, not looking Valako in the eye.

Valako swiped her card and entered her pin. Everything went through like usual. Nothing was different except for this time the cashier had called the cops.

The cops started walking away, and Jonah walked over to Valako. "I got you cherry coke." He said, trying to lighten the mood.

"wow, thanks Jonah." Valako said gathering up her grocery bags. "I was gonna bake some cinnamon rolls but I ran out of milk and eggs."

"Ohhhh, that's why you were here!" Jonah said with a faint smile. "Makes sense."

"yeah, I tend to shop early so I get less rocks thrown." Valako said. She looked around the empty store. The cashier still stared in fear of what he'd seen
