Jonah woke up later in the morning, grabbing his sketchbook and some money so he could buy Valako some candy.
-
Valako wore her veil and stepped out of the woods, smelling the remnants of some families barbeque. She walked down the empty streets with her footsteps as company
-
Jonah grabbed a small bookbag and put his sketchbook in it before slinging it over his shoulder and walking out of the door.
-
Valako walked through the empty strip mall parking lot. Cars sometimes pulled in at this time but not often. She walked to the door general and waited for the store to officially open.
-
Jonah went to one of the gas stations that he knew was always open and walked in, grabbing a cherry coke for Valako and a Mountain Dew for himself.
-
Valako walked into the store scaring the clerk half to death as she browsed the isles. It was quiet as usual
-
Jonah paid for the two drinks and sat on a bench, drawing the rest of the forest from the night before.
-
Valako gathered up all her ingredients as well as a package of Oreos before going back up to the counter. Just as she got to the counter though, the cops showed up.
-
Jonah noticed some cops showing up to one of the stores, and he followed slowly.
-
The police walked in with their guns drawn and they were confused. The cashier looked grateful they were there. Valako then realized the cashier called the cops on her. She hadn't done anything except wear her veil. She could see how that would look suspicious but she was unarmed and she hadn't even said anything. It felt so cruel she couldn't even explain it.
-
Jonah didn't walk in for fear of making it worse, but he did look through the window, and saw Valako trying to buy something. He impulsively walked in. "What're you doing here?" He asked, trying to walk past the police officers. "Why are there cops?"
-
"we got called in on a robbery." The police officer said Valako walked up to the counter and took out her wallet, sighing at the misunderstanding. She should have noticed it was a new cashier. Of course they'd call the cops when the"beast" showed up in town
-
"Robbery?" Jonah said in disbelief, trying to get past the officers again. "That can't be right, see? She's grabbing her wallet."
-
"I know kid, but she is wearing a mask. Either way she didn't leave the store with anything so we can't really arrest her." The cop said Valako waited for the cashier to scan her groceries. "She's obviously threatening me!" The cashier yelled at the cops
-
Jonah raised his eyebrow. "Come on, just let her go." He told the cashier, very annoyed.
