Eli walked to school, not wanting to take the bus. The bus meant people, and people meant bullies. Besides, it wasn’t that long of a walk to school. -
Callum found themself in a toilet cubicle. 'Out of everywhere in the school, the portal had to be here,' they muttered, leaving the boys' bathroom. 'It stinks!'

After about half an hour of walking Eli finally got to school, and he rushed to class to make sure he didn’t wind up late.

They walked through the school and got quite lost at some point, finding himself in the grade 4 block, but eventually found the classroom and sitting at the back of the class, looking around for his subject.

Eli slid into their normal seat, in the very back where nobody else would sit.
Well, normally nobody else sat there. This time there was a boy sitting just two desks away. Eli waved half heartedly. -
Callum glanced at them, and smiled. He knew this would be the one. He waved back with a wide smile.

Nik waved again, this time more enthusiastically, flashing the tiniest of smiles.

Callum grinned and turned away, to the front of the classroom where the teacher now stood. -

Eli copied the new guy, looking at the teacher, Mrs Smith, the social studies teacher. Eli actually really liked social studies, and Mrs Smith wasn’t that bad of a teacher, so he made sure to focus on her so he wouldn’t miss anything. -
(lmao)
The lesson went on, Mrs Smith talking and the students occasionally jotting down notes. To Callum's relief, the teacher address him as the "new kid" in front of the rest of the class - he wanted to go as unnoticed as possible so that when he disappeared with his subject it wouldn't be that big of a deal. -
Eli realized that Mrs Smith hasn’t even addressed the kid sitting just a few desks away from him. They tilted their head at the new kid, raisin an eyebrow.

Callum glanced at the person next to him, noticing they were looking at him and he raised his eyebrows at them, before turning his attention back to the teacher.

Eli looked back at Mrs Smith, figuring he wasn’t gonna get much of an answer from the new guy.

After about half an hour, the bell rang and class was dismissed. Along with the other kids, Callum stuffed his things in his bag and made for the door.
