Eli nodded. "Peter, you go try and do a headcount of the stuffed animals and find out how many are missing." They said, and Peter nodded, trying to slide out of Callum's grip.

Callum put Peter down, and the small panda rushed around.

"Alright, now you and me try and grab the remaining piece's of the gate and see if we can either fix it or build a new one."

'The darkness is still around,' Callum said. 'It's not safe to until it goes.'

"Then lets try and use ourselves as bait once everyone leaves." Eli said, grabbing a small piece of metal and fiddling with it.

'Really?' Callum asked, looking at Eli.

"Unless you want to back out of it." Eli said, looking at the shadow.

'No,' Callum said. 'If you're sure.'

"Of course I am." Eli said with a determined smile. "Whatever helps stop this thing."

Callum smiled, then watched the darkness twist around the poles of wood. His smile faded.

Eli's smile quickly melted too. By now most of the stuffed animals were gone save a couple slower ones. "Alright, how do we use ourselves as bait?"

'I dunno. It just kinda took my parents.'

"Maybe if we walked towards it and touched it or something... Or if we stay long enough it might just.... Take us." Eli said, a chill going through their spine as they thought about it.

'Yeah...'

"Rock paper scissors for who tries to get taken by it first?" Eli suggested.
