Natsuki looked from door to door. She was on her third before she noticed an adult in one, he had messy black hair and pale skin...
Xiao.
He was sitting on a chair, his hands handcuffed and his legs tied to the legs of the chair. Natsuki's eyes widened, surely he wasn't going to jail? -
Nikolai noticed Natsuki staring at one door for a long time, and he followed her.
“He’s in there, isn’t he?” He asked, looking at her. -
Natsuki nodded, watching him closely. Xiao seemed different. He wasn't struggling or figuring out some smart way to escape, he was just sitting there, looking sad.
Natsuki tried to open the door, but it was locked. -
“Do you want me to pick the lock?” Nikolai asked when Nat struggled to open the door, showing it was locked.

Natsuki raised her eyebrows at him in curiosity, but stepped backward, eager to watch someone pick a lock.

Nikolai dug in his pockets for a paper clip. He always has at least one on him. Finally he found one, and bent it slightly before shoving it in the lock hole and wiggling it a bit. The door clicked and Nikolai opened it.

Natsuki stared at Nik in surprise, but shook her amazement away when he opened the door.
'Natsuki?' Xiao asked when he saw her and Nik in the doorway. 'How...' he trailed off when Natsuki jumped forward and gave him a hug, despite them not being a very "huggy" family.
'What are you two doing here?' Xiao asked when Nat pulled away. -
“Getting you guys out.” Nikolai said. “Or at least finding out where you guys all are for now. What are you doing handcuffed?!” Xiao may not have been the best guy when they met, but he definitely didn’t seem like a guy that would get arrested.

'I'm being arrested,' Xiao huffed, looking away. 'For running from the authorities and illegally keeping children from foster care.'
Natsuki's eyes widened in shock, her hands shaking. -
“I still think it’s stupid how they decided you guys needed to be kept in foster care.” Nikolai said. “Just because they thought it was unsafe. Should police actually check to see if it’s unsafe or something?”

'Foster agents made 5 inspections,' Xiao mumbled, still not looking at them. 'They decided I wasn't fit to look after Nat and Ming, and since we have no known relatives, they have to take them away.' Xiao looked up in a sudden worry. 'Where's Ming? Is she OK?'
Natsuki nodded, much to Xiao's relief.
'Where is she?' the latter asked, looking to Nik. -
“Still in the foster room.” Nik said. “We’ll get her out though.”
Xiao nodded. “As long as she’s ok.” -
Xiao sighed. 'You guys really shouldn't be here. If they find you, they'll get hold of Nat,' he said, in sincere worry for his sister.

Nikolai looked at Nat. “Do you want to leave? We can remember the address and come back later.”

Nat didn't want to leave. She wanted to stay with her brother and sister, but there really was no point. It would only endanger her and possible send Xiao to prison even longer than he already had to.
In response, Natsuki nodded to Nikolai, not looking at him though.
