Lily looked confused. Was someone like Anne jealous of someone like her?
"I guess so, there are a lot of nice places out there, I can show you some tomorrow if you want?" she asked. -
'Of course!' Anne blurted excitedly, before recovering herself and saying sheepishly, 'I mean-spirited Yes, please.'

"No problem!" Lily smiled. "Should we go back to yours for now?, then we can explore tomorrow"

'Prob'ly,' Anne responded, looking back in the direction of her house. 'It is getting dark...' she stood up slowly, brushing the grass off her dress and out of her hair. -
Lily also stood up, brushing the dirt of her dress. "What time is it? You won't get in trouble if you stay out to late, will you?" She asked worrying a little.

'Not usually,' Anne answered, looking back to the sunset. 'Mother might be timing me by the clock, though. We should hurry.'
Anne grabbed Lily's hand and started running away from the park and to the bakery. -
Lily ran with Anne, their hurried footsteps running in sync with each other. Finally, they reached the bakery. Lily breathed heavily leaning against the bakery doors, the sharp, cold wind stung her cheeks but at least she knew she would be somewhere safe and warm tonight.

Anne straightened her dress as she walked into the bakery, trying to catch her breath. She waited for Lily to follow her, and when she did Anne locked the door behind her and hurried through the back door, up the steps to her house.

Lily rushed up the steps, smoothing her dress down. She followed Anne through the door of her house, and slowly meandered through the hallway still catching her breath.

Anne and Lily rushed to the former's room, and once they were Anne shut the door behind them, looking back to Lily. 'I'll see if I have a nightgown you can use,' she said, opening her wardrobe.

"Really, I'm fine sleeping in this or my old clothes. It's very kind of you, but I can't take anything more!" Lily stated sitting down on Anne's bed.

Anne frowned at her, then turned back to her wardrobe. 'Please, I insist,' she said, 'You can't sleep in your normal clothes. It's bad enough you only have one pretty dress!'

Lily grinned looking up at Anne. "Thanks, you're the kindest person I've ever met" she stated fiddling with her fingers.

Anne smiled, pulling out a nightgown. 'My pleasure. Do you like this?' She held up the nightgown. It had a lovely frill on the sleeves and neck of it, with lace and a soft white fabric.
