Akari rested her chin on her cupped hands. 'Seems elves are immune to that,' she said. 'Your father seems fair and kind, which I can't say for most of the people in the human town.'
-
"my father is very kind. he's been the chief for a while now, and everyone loves him. i have trouble believing i'll be half as good as him when i become chief." Oberon sighs.
-
'So long as you're nothing like the human king, I think you'll make a good chief,' she said, pulling off her boots to dip her feet in the water.
-
"i would never betray my own brothers and order them dead." Oberon growls, throwing a stone into the water.
-
Akari smiled and stood up. 'Very well, mister almost-chief, who will do a very good job,' she said loudly in a deep, grand voice that mimicked older men, 'What is next up on the amazing tour of your beautiful little town?' She grinned, doing her best not to break into laughter.
-
I been cracked a smile, but it faded soon after. "What would you like to see? There's the statues of the former chiefs near the back of the cavern, or the gardens." He furrows his brows. "I still don't know how all those flowers are growing with no sun..." He mumbles to himself.
-
Her attempt to cheer him up didn't appear to work. She sighed and sat next to him, staring at the waterfall for a moment. 'You OK?' she asked, glancing at him.
-
"Yea. Just... Today's such a difference from most days, I'm trying to adjust." He says.
-
She looked back at the waterfall and didn't say anything. She wondered what it must be like being told that humans are evil, then having to be friends with one. After a while, she said, 'Well, what do you wanna do?'
-
"I just asked you that, though." Oberon laughs half heartedly.
-
She smiled. 'Yes, but now I'M asking YOU,' she laughed, fiddling with one of her ginger plaits.
-
Oberon sighs, smiling at the human. "Come on, i'll show you the gardens." He stands, waiting for her.
-
'Alright!' she said, jumping to her feet, then glancing up to the "sky". It wasn't really a sky, more like a dirt ceiling. 'How do the plants grow without a sun?'
-
"I've been wondering that since I was young." Oberon says, looking up as well. "We do use a special fertilizer, maybe there's some magic infused in it."
-
'Magic?' Akari looked at him, a small twinkle in her eye. 'Magic is real?' She grinned.
