"Wow, you're a f---ing tool."
-
He laughs openly, apparently unfazed by the judgment he was getting from his peers.
"What about you, Ryuu? You want me to keep answering for you? I know you like your "strong, silent type" stuff." -
He glances over his shoulder at his brother again, smirking faintly.
"I'll answer for myself if that's how you're gonna put it. To answer the question, I have a partner." -
"Oh, how nice! Love is so nice." she says, but she's just filling space at this point. They've been walking for some time now and she needs to keep them talking.
-
"I'm surprised anyone can stand your s---ty attitude long enough to date you." she remarks bluntly.
-
"Me too, if I'm being honest. Anyway. Have any of you ever..." he stretches out his arms over his head as he seems to contemplate what he wants to ask next. "-broken the law?
-
She looks taken aback, outright frowning for the first time in a while.
"Broken the law? What kind of question is that? Of course not!" -
It was strange, the stab of self-consciousness that found her gut when she heard the way Ember talked. Of course she'd broken the law- she'd stolen, and sped, and run from the cops, and got in plenty of fights in her life. f---, she'd even pirated just about every movie she'd ever seen since she was 14.
-
Sehei waited for a moment of silence to pass before he gave his answer.
"Not me. I'm boring." -
He nodded tersely.
"Me too." -
There was another long moment of silence, and it was obvious the rest of the group was waiting on her to respond. But how could she admit that she was as rotten as it got to this group of apparent saints? She couldn't. What would one little fib hurt?
"N-no." -
He waited for another long moment before moving on.
-
"I don't know about you guys, but I'm really happy none of us have broken the law ever. Makes me feel safer with you guys, you know?"
-
"Yeah, I guess.. That was kind of a weird question."
-
"Sorry you feel that way." he bit back, though it was clear offending the hero was the least of his concerns. "Next question. Do you believe there is ever a circumstance that justifies the breaking of the law?"
