Nick suddenly started coughing up the water and gasping for air. He rolled over on his side and wrapped his arms around himself as he continued struggling to breathe. "H-Hu-Hurts-" He mumbled between gasps.

Dream sobbed harder, squeezing Nick tight. "Oh, my god. Nick, you scared me!!! I thought I lost you!!!" He cried, hugging his friend tighter, his sobs louder than before. "Don't scare me like that! Where are you hurt?"

Nick started sobbing as well. "E-Everywhere-" Nick rocked back and forth slightly as tears streamed down his face. "Lungs- hurts to breathe- h-help p-please" He whispered.

Dream released Nick and looked his best friend up and down. "Oh, my god! Sapnap, I'm sorry. I couldn't help but think of the fire. Are you hurt anywhere else?"

Nick panicked and took Dream's hand because he was terrified he was getting up to leave. "Stay no please d-don't leave please everywhere hurts please-" Tears poured down his face and his eyes were wide and terrified.

Dream pulled Nick in for a hug. "I'm not leaving. I'm staying right here." He sobbed harder, hugging Nick tight. "I'm here, Nick. I'm here for you. I would never leave you like this."

Nick hugged back. "I'm s-sorry when I r-ran into you in t-the tunnel I-I lost all the a-air it was so long s-so f***ing long I couldn't- I couldn't breathe-" Nick rambled in between gasps.

Dream sobbed. "Stop. Don't say that. It was my fault for stopping. It was my fault you couldn't breathe. I'm sorry. Just be quiet and catch your breath." He whispered. He rubbed Nick's back and quietly started singing to calm his friend down.

Nick's gasps for air slowly turned into a shaky but steady pattern. He pulled his knees to his chest and curled up into a ball in Dream's arms. His body still shook when he glanced up at Dream. "I-I'm a-alright" He lied. -
(Thank you! Also, I got the cat. I got the cat and we're going home, chat!)
Dream shook his head, pausing in his singing to scold Sapnap. "That isn't true. You're not alright. Not yet. Just stay here a bit longer. Just try to relax then we can continue." -
(WOOHOO!!)
Nick took a shaky breath and tried to get up anyway. "I-I'll be f-fine-" -
Dream tightened his grip. "No. You're still shaky and I'm not letting you go until I'm absolutely certain you're okay. You scared me to death. I actually thought we were about to have a repeat of the fire!"

Nick's eyes widened and he froze. His heart dropped to the pit of his stomach and he choked back a sob. "F-Fire? Not the fire, Not the fire-" He mumbled.

Dream sighed. "I'm sorry. I really am, but I thought you were dead! I didn't think you were going to live. You weren't breathing and I could barely feel a heartbeat. I know you hate that, and I'm sorry for mentioning it." He whispered, pulling his friend closer.

(Is it bad that I hear Dream's voice when reading that? Like, perfectly-)
"I-I'm sorry I'm sorry," Sapnap whispered as tears yet again streamed down his face.
