"Well still, just the alfredo," Tessa insisted.
-
“And no sides to go along with it?”
-
"For the last time, Jacob, no," Tessa said, not sure whether to be exasperated with him or to laugh.
-
“Whatever you say, Tessa.” Jacob said with a shrug.
The two of them finally approached the kitchen. The chef was busy stirring some liquid in his shiny silver pot, occasionally tossing various vegetables and meats inside. -
Tessa's stomach grumbled at the savory aroma that soared towards her from the pot. "What are you going to get?" she asked.
-
“I don’t know yet,” Jacob whispered. His mouth watered with how amazing the food smelled. “I think either lobster or crab cake.”
-
"Fancy," Tessa said. She wasn't sure exactly how procedures were done to receive your food so she decided that walking up to the cook would be the best option.
-
The cook immediately turned around. He had black bushy eyebrows and a thick, curly mustache. A couple of beads of sweat were dropping from his forehead, most likely from how long he had been cooking with boiled water.
“Ah, children! It’s not often I see you come here, Jacob.” The chef grinned widely as he continued to quietly stir the pot in front of him. “What do you two need?”
“Food.” Jacob said.
(I had half of a mind to pull one over on you and make the chef Carlos, but knowing it wouldn’t make sense and would just be for giggles, I most likely made a new favorite character-) -
Tessa rolled her eyes at Jacob but didn't make any comment. "Some chicken alfredo, please," she said to the chef.
-
The chef’s smile broadened exponentially.
“Ah, you’re just in luck! I am currently fixing up some chicken alfredo right now, as a matter of fact.” -
Tessa smiled. "Good, thank you," she said. She watched with curious eyes as the chef prepared the food.
-
“Do you prefer a hint of spice in your chicken alfredo or would you like it plain?” The chef inquired as he sprinkled in some more spices.
-
"Since I've never had it before I'll have it plain," Tessa said. "Then I'll know whether I'd like it spicy or not."
-
“Mama mia, whether it’s spicy or not, it shall taste magnificento!” The chef proclaimed as he progressively got rougher with stirring the pot in excitement.
-
Tessa smiled and sat down to watch the man cook. It was remarkable. Every meal tasted marvelous here, and you could eat as much as you wanted. It was such a foreign concept.
