The guards stepped forward and the door slide open to show Zack's dad.
"Zack, how could you do that?! You disgust me, trying to kill yourself like you could ever get away from me." Zack stared at the ceiling not paying attention to his father it seemed. -
Ruby shrunk back in fear at the sight of Zack's father. But there was something she couldn't ignore. His father was so terrible, so horrid... she shook her head vigorously and stood up, facing him. She knew that she was going to be killed for this, but she couldn't stop herself. "He disgusts you? Well you disgust me! You're such a terrible person, aside from being the leader of the Mafia. You treat your own son as if he's a piece of garbage and you say he disgusts you when he tries to kill himself because of how you treat him!" She shouted at him. Then the girl shrunk back once more, taking into account what she had really just done.
(I don't know why I did this- Ruby's gonna get thrown into a boiling pot alive) -
His father stood there looking surprised. "Is that so?" He asked not angry just astounded at this girl who raged out at him. "Can you explain to me why?"

"why" what
as in the dad asked, "can you explain to me why?"
but why what
id think that sounds confusing but idk how else to word it) -
"Why, I am such a disgusting person for calling my son disgusting?" He asked. "For trying to help my son only to be punished with this disgrace?"

Ruby sat down again but spoke from where she sat. "Any parent who degrades their child is not fit to be a parent," she said to him, her voice shaky yet firm. "Even if you're trying to, you're not helping. You're making everything worse, and he only "disgraced you" because you were the one who hurt him in the first place. It was all your fault, and it always has been, but you just never realized it. Things would be very different if you had treated Zack differently."

The father nodded and with out responding left the room after nodding to the guards. "Ruby, will you help Zack to his room?" Max asked from behind her.

Ruby nodded at Max. "Sure," she said. The girl stood up and extended her hands out for Zack to grab so that she could help pull him up the best she could, being careful of his healing chest.

As he stood up, he flinched in pain. He had done this to himself so this came to surprise to him that she was helping him.

"Ok, let's take it slow so you don't exert yourself," she said softly as she began to take slow steps with Zack to go back to his room.

"Okay. Why are you helping me?" He asked as they walked down the hallway slowly.

Ruby looked up at Zack. "Because you need help."

"Oh." He responded as they stopped at his door, the door slide open to reveal his room had been cleaned and the bed made. He entered and the laid on the bed lightly.

"Do you need anything?" She asked.

"No." He responded and then looked at her. "Can you stay with me?"
