After they had gotten most but not all of the edible, safe mushrooms, she began picking some scraggly herbs in the cracks, but not all of them. "We aren't getting all so they come back spring and summer." She explained.

After they had gotten what they could, she led him out of the hollow and into the forest, so they could look for nuts and berries. "Not the red ones. Never the red ones." She reminded him.

He nodded before asking "have you tried ice fishing?

She shook her head. "I only fish in the summer, bow fishing or leaving traps."

"I could show you how. Ice fishing is a great way of getting food in the winter

Likalca tilted her head. "Okay, but what do you use to catch the fish?"

"Do you have a hook and line?" He asked "if not i know how to make them

"What's a hook, and why would I need to draw a line?" She asked, very confused.

He paused "well that answeres that question

She shrugged. "I catch fish with bows, spears, traps, or nets. I don't know what a hook is or why it would be used to catch fish, though." Likalca explained.

"Basicaly, you put a barb at the end of a thin rope, with bait on it. A fish eats the bait, swallowing the hook, and then you can pull it up

"Huh, cool!" She said. "But where do you put the bait?"

"On the barb"

"Okay. How do we make this stuff? Can we use the same material as bowstring for the string?"
