Coraline bit her lip, her gaze resting on random objects before finally settling on Harlow. "You're the runaway he's looking for, aren't you?"

"Before I answer," Harlow said, "Tell me everything that was said in the phone call you just had with your uncle."

"How about no?" Coraline said, crossing her arms. "I want to know if you'll risk lying to me or not."

"Well, depending on what you mean by runaway, yes," Harlow said matter-of-factly. "Now your turn."

Coraline huffed. "So you stole his money," she began simply.

"He was going to give it to me," Harlow said defensively

Coraline looked deeply into Harlow's eyes. His reaction reminded him a little boy, but this was no little boy. He was a killer and he could easily snap her neck with one muscle spasm.
"For a price," she retorted. "Which you apparently refused to pay." -
"Look, Coraline," Harlow said, looking at her dead in the eye. "I am tired of killing. I've been saving the money I get so that I can have enough to live well-off without being summoned by some high-and-mighty powerful lunatic to kill someone who may or may not have done anything wromg."

"My uncle is NOT "some high-and-mighty powerful lunatic"," Coraline snapped, her gaze not faltering. "You could have stopped at any time, but you didn't. Why not?"
Deep down, she had a sinking suspicion that she was trying to push down. Her uncle was a good man...right? -
"Let's just say I was trapped and I finally broke the bonds," Harlow said.
