Coraline bit her lip. They would definitely be slowed down considerably because Harlow was injured, but staying at her house was dangerous. What if those weird hitmen came to make sure there were no witnesses? And besides...she had to know the truth.
"Of course not," she said. "Where to?" -
(Ooh I just got an idea)
Harlow told her the city they had to go to. It was a ways away and would take awhile to get there on horseback. -
(Tell me tell me)
Coraline started Gypsy off at a light trot, keeping up pace next to Harlow. "What's your favorite color?" she asked him rather suddenly. -
(Harlow was actually hired to kill Coraline.
Although the fact about having a brother is true)
Harlow gave her an odd look, but shifted through the options. "If I said red would it be too morbid?" -
OH MY GOODNESS YES THAT'S LITERALLY WHAT I WAS THINKING BEFORE :0000))
"No," Coraline said with a shrug. "Red is often seen as the color of pain and carnage. Not so. It's vivid, it's bold, or it can be soft like a sunset." -
(Our minds are synced)
Harlow nodded. "Are you just making this up as you go or have you actually thought about that in the past?" -
Telepathy :D))
"I've thought about a lot of things," Coraline said vaguely. "It's just that someone's favorite color can say much about who they are, and liking red doesn't make you an almighty evil thing. Hence comes the thought train." -
Harlow let a small huff of something like amusement out at that. "So what's your favorite color and why?"
-
"Yellow because it's happy," Coraline said. "It's bright and colorful. It doesn't try to hide itself one bit and it's like the sun."
-
"The sun has always been my enemy," Harlow said, staring straight ahead.
-
"Why so? If it weren't for the sun, we'd all be dead," Coraline said "cheerfully".
-
Harlow turned his gaze to Coraline. "The sun exposes the dark. Everyone can see it and knows exactly what it does."
-
"Maybe that's not a bad thing," Coraline said. "If everyone were exposed for what they were, the world might be honest."
-
"And if I were exposed?" Harlow said, his gaze unwavering.
