Ethan raised his eyebrows but said nothing on the color scheme. Instead, he just pulled into the driveway.

Crystal, who noticed his face, laughed a little bit.
"It was my grandma’s house. We never got to repaint it." She said. -
"I know a guy who could do it for you," he offered.

"Who?" Crystal asked, intrigued by his offer.

Ethan shrugged. "No one special, but he does good work. I'll text you the company."

“Thanks," Crystal said, getting off the bike. "I guess I'll see you at school."

Ethan nodded then drove off.

Crystal sucked in a breath and walked inside her house. Oh boy, she's gonna be in a lot of trouble.

"Where have you been?!" her mom snapped as soon as her daughter stepped foot across the threshold of the front door.

Crystal bit her lip. Her parents weren't too fond of her making friends with the opposite gender. They thought that "degenerate males" would do terrible things to their daughter.
“I was studying with a friend." Crystal mumbled. It wasn't a lie. She HAD been studying with someone. Just not really a friend. -
"Do I know them?" she asked.

"No. The teacher asked them to help me with my schoolwork." Crystal said.

"What's their name?" She asked.

Crystal froze. She wasn't comfortable with lying to her parents, but she also wasn’t comfortable with getting yelled at.
She took a deep breath and stared her mother in the eye.
"H-Her name was Polly." Crystal whispered. -
Her mother nodded in approval. "Why don't you invite her for supper some time. It would be my way if thanking her parents for feeding you."
