“Go right ahead in,” The woman at the front desk said, smiling as she perched her glasses on top of her nose. “Room 457 in the interrogation section.”
-
Joan rushed through the hallways until she reached the room. She immediately knocked on the door.
-
“Come in,” The interrogator barked out.
-
She opened the door to see Ethan sitting across from a police officer. "What's happened?" she asked.
"Mom, we need that video you took of me when I was on the wrestling team," Ethan replied.
Joan looked at him in confusion, but she opened her phone and started scrolling through her videos.
"I can't find it," she said. "I know which one you're talking about, but I must have deleted it."
Ethan's eyes widened. If they couldn't find it, he'd be a deadman. "Check facebook," he said frantically. "I remember you posting it." -
The officer raised a bushy eyebrow and tapped his long fingers on the table impatiently.
“We don’t have all day, ma’am. It would be best if your son stayed here for the night if you can’t find it.” -
"Just give me a minute," she said. She was not having her son stay the night in a prison. Soon enough, she found the video. She held the phone next to the tv and waited for the footage to start again.
-
The TV made crackling noises and static showed for the first few seconds, but the footage eventually popped up on the screen. It showed Ethan and another boy on a small mat with a ring of people cheering and hollering. Everything shown in the alleyway was shown on the video, much to the officers surprise.
-
Every movement was exactly the same. At the end of the video, Joan put her phone back into her pocket. "Somebody has to be framing him," she said.
-
“I see that. I apologize for the trouble we’ve put you through.” The officer who had been interrogating them scratched the back of his head. “But we still don’t know who could’ve framed him. Do you have any enemies, kid?”
-
"Not enemy enough to frame me for murder," Ethan replied.
-
"So you might be suggesting that someone completely random decided to frame you for murder?”
-
"The only reason I can think for someone to frame me was the scuffle Richie and I had in the gym," Ethan said. "It would be easy to plant the blame on me."
"Scuffle?" Joan asked, raising an eyebrow.
Ethan sighed. "He hurt Crystal during dodgeball, then went over to his friends and laughed about it. I...gave him a piece of my mind. He wouldn't apologize to her so I told him to watch his back. I wasn't going to do anything like murder, maybe just have him get a bucket of paint dumped on him or something."
