Markus growled and said "Fine then." He then changed the subject and said "So how will you get a hold of my father, once he sobers up and realizes I'm gone."
-
"That is nothing you have to concern yourself with," Erin said, and she left the room.
-
Markus sighed and said "And here I thought the worse thing today was going to a party for a person I didn't like and listening to my father's drunk language again. Now I'm the prisoner of a low rent thief in some ragged town that I didn't even know existed."
-
Erina knew he didn't understand. For everyone here, fear was fuel. But they had used up that fuel long ago, and now it was just pure willpower to survive, to conquer the fate that had been thrust upon the city. To deny death.
Erin tossed Markus a thin blanket that landed on his lap as she went upstairs. It was time for bed. -
Markus sarcastically said "Thank you." and tried in vain to cover himself with his hands and legs tied up. He soon gave up and just lay down with the blanket on his legs.
-
Erin laid down in bed. Rain started beating down upon the thankfully holeless roof. It relaxed her. Soon she drifted to sleep.
-
The next morning, Markus woke up to sunlight gleaming in his eyes. He looked at his hands to see them still tied and said "Guess it wasn't a dream then. I really am stuck here. Now what do I do?"
-
Erin was already awake writing drafts for a ransom note. Eventually she came up with something that she thought was good. She went over to Julian's room and walked in.
"Here, read this over, make sure it's good," Erin said.
Julian mumbled the words as he read the note. "Looks good to me."
"So you're actually going to go along with this?"
"It's what's best for my sister, like you pointed out," Julian sighed. -
Markus tried shifting with his tied up hands and legs to get to and upright position. It wasn't working though and he flopped to the ground. He said "Ow." as he hit his head on the floor.
-
Erin heard Markus fall on the floor. She decided she'd rather not deal with him at the moment. "I'm off," she said. ",Make sure you keep an eye on Princey-boy." She went through his window and started lightly leaping from roof to roof and Julian made his way downstairs.
-
Markus said "Oh great. I swear this is the worst ever." He still kept trying to get up with his tied limbs but it just wasn't working.
-
"Well, now you're starting to look more like us," Julian said, looking at the now dirty prince.
Erin was running for The Rift. Faster and faster. Then she jumped. This was her third time jumping over the gap. It was starting to feel natural, even though she knew if she messed up once she was dead. -
Markus said "Very funny. It's your fault you know. Why do I need to be tied up? Where am I even gonna go if I leave this house? I don't know anything in this city. I didn't even know it existed until last night. I'll just be lost and listless."
-
"It's just a precaution," Julian said. He picked Markus up and set him on the couch. "Trust me, I can think of many hands you'd be worse off in than Erin's and mine."
-
"And I believe you, but this is no way to treat prince like me. I am to be respected. I have more dignity than this. I am the Crowned Prince, Markus Galloway and I really need to pee right now." Markus complained.
