Tessa looked at her. "I've seen stuff like this before," she said. "And let me tell you, even if Max doesn't die some other way, he won't be the same Max you know."

"Can you give me an example?" asked Jewel, who wasn't too happy with what Tessa had said.

"There was a man once," Tessa remembered. "He wanted his wife back. Lucifer did it, but she was...I don't want to say emotionless. But she didn't look like she'd ever be able to experience joy or love, or enjoy anything ever. There was another time where a woman wanted her daughter back. But Lucifer made it so that the daughter was afraid of her mother."

"I don't care about that, I just want Max back." Jewel said.

"But Max won't be Max," Tessa said. "It'll look like him but it won't be him"

"But I could try to help him turn back into the real Max."

"There's a lock put on them so that they can't be turned back," Tessa said. "I used to be the one that would put the lock on them."

"Oh! So you could take the lock off then." said Jewel cheerfully.

Tessa shook her head. "I was only able to put on the lock."

"I'm guessing the only person to unlock it would be Lucifer then." she said.

"I don't even know if he can," she said.

"Those locks must be powerful then." said Jewel.

Tessa nodded. "And I also know that nothing cliche like true loves kiss or just love in general can fix it."

Jewel sighed. It looked like she wouldn't see her brother again. But she had made a deal with Lucifer, and she wouldn't be too upset to see Max again. All she wanted to see was at least his face.
