Sade nodded and kept her head turned. Everything was jumbled up inside her head, but she’d figure it out later.
-
"The demons aren't going to find us anytime soon here," Adrian said. He finished bandaging her up and put the rest of the bandages away, setting the med kit on the end table next to the bed. "So, I'm sure you have questions," Adrian said. He pulled up a chair next to her bed and sat down.
-
wait, isn’t she on the counter?)
Sade observed Adrian's every move. He said he was sure she had questions, and he was right. Sade just wasn’t sure how to phrase them.
“If... if that was a demon,” Sade began, adding emphasis. “What are you?” she asked. -
wait, nevermind. she’s on a bed, lol).
-
Adrian faltered. "I'm not even sure myself," he said. "I never knew my parents, nor did anyone else. All I know is that I'm not a demon, angel, mage, or human. So far the best theory is that I'm a mixture of all four."
-
Sade didn’t understand anything he was telling her, but she didn’t mention it. All she could do was stare into his eyes, examine his features. What was he?
-
"Okay how about a different question," Adrian said. "One that doesn't involve my origins, preferably."
-
Sade but her lip again. “Well... you said something about something I had? Lucifer wants it, but what is it? I don’t feel any different than I ever have,” Sade said softly.
-
*bit
-
"You have these abilities," Adrian said looking at her. "I don't even know what they are yet, you'll have to find out yourself. The devil wants your soul and your magic to destroy everything he can. Which in this case is everything."
-
Sade got up out of the bed, limping just a bit. “What am I supposed to do about it? Or us?” She wasn’t use to saying that word. She usually worked alone. Actually, she was always alone.
-
"I don't know yet," Adrian said. "We don't know enough about the situation. But we do know that you're the one that will either destroy the world or save it."
-
Sade's expression changed. Save or destroy? She had never been this important before. She always felt like a speck of dust, just going with the flow of the wind, but now everything was different.
-
"I know, it's a lot to take in," Adrian said. He stood up. "If you don't need anything else you should get some sleep. You look drained."
-
“Sleep.. here?” Sade whispered, shivering a bit. Her eyes looked up to Adrian, realizing how much taller he was than herself. She knew she probably didn’t have much of a choice, but she was interested in what he would say, forgetting he could read her mind.
