Sade wiped her face as Adrian set her down on the counter. She wasn’t use to being held in a man's arms, nonetheless
one who wasn’t truly man at all.
“I..” Sage began her sentence then trailed off. “I don’t remember,” she finally responded, looking into Adrian's eyes. -
Adrian sighed. "This day just keeps on getter better and better," he muttered to himself. "Do you know where you didn't or wouldn't put it?" he asked her, "Or vice versa?"
-
Sade struggled to keep herself steady. Her head was spinning as she grew dizzier and dizzier.
“I.. don't know,” she almost choked on her words. She never realized she was this weak. -
Adrian knew the poison was working quickly. Too quickly for the weaker ointment he had in his jacket pocket. He took Sade in his arms again and flew out the door and into the sky.
"Hang in there. You'll be alright," Adrian told her. He had a cabin nearby. He flew there as fast as he could. -
Sade gradually lost her consciousness until she was fully out. Nothing like this had ever happened before.
In her head, she could hear Adrian's voice, “you’ll be alright,” over and over, but she wasn’t so sure about that. -
Soon they arrived at Adrian's cabin. It was invisible to any human eye. If he looked closer at it he could see the edges of it shimmering.
But unfortunately Adrian didn't have time for looking closely at anything. He flew into his house and landed. He rushed up the steps and into one of the two bedrooms in the cabin. He laid her down on the bed.
Adrian leaped down the stairs and into the kitchen. If he wasn't mistaken Sade would be getting an intense burning sensation. Adrian grabbed a few bottles knowing that their contents would help her. He also grabbed a med kit and ran back up the stairs. -
Sade regained consciousness and screamed for a moment as her ankles throbbed in pain. It was similar to a burning sensation, no pain she was ever use to.
“How the hell do you deal with this,” she grinded her teeth. Sade didn’t usually use such language, but she was becoming impatient. -
"Hold on," Adrian said. He put one of the substances on his hands and rubbed them together. "Fair warning this is going to sting and hurt. A lot." He started rubbing the ointment on her ankles.
-
“H-haa,” Sade stifled and held onto Adrian's shoulders with her hands. She blushed in embarrassment and looked away. She felt like a little kid, being taken care of and treated.
-
Adrian wiped his hands on a cloth and reached for another bottle. "This one and then one more should do it," he mumbled to himself. He did the same thing with this liquid as he had the last one. After wiping his hands of a second time Adrian took the third bottle and handed it to her. It was more like a vial than a bottle. "Drink this," he said. "The whole thing. It doesn't taste as vile as it looks. I've been told it tastes like sunshine." He then took the med kit and started bandaging her ankles.
-
Sade held the vial in her hand and bit her bottom lip. She glimpsed down at her ankles as Adrian's hands touched them.
“How do I know you’re not trying to poison me?” Sade whispered. -
"This is the third time I've saved your life," Adrian said. "If I really wanted you dead I wouldn't have. Anyway you'd never stand a chance against me."
Adrian moved on to her other ankle. "Just drink it. It's meant to help speed the extraction of the poison and just make things go smoother in the healing process in general." -
Sade opened the vial and drank it quickly, wiping her mouth afterwards.
“You don’t have to be so forceful..” Sade murmured. -
"Look, I wasn't kidding when I said I can't let you die" Adrian said. "And demon wounds are a serious thing, especially for humans. You believe what I was saying before now?"
