Soon they reached the castle and the guards let them through. Inside the castle, they walked a little bit until they got to the throne room with the queen inside. She said "Laucian, who is this that you have brought into our city?" "Queen Qirona, I believe the person I have brought before you is a human." answered Laucian.

Rasia slowly moved her hair behind her ears, revealing their roundness. She looked around in amazement. Everything was so fascinating and spectacular.

Queen Qirona said "That is impossible. Humans are extinct." She saw Rasia's ears and said "That proves nothing. You could have simply cut your ears off and waited for them to heal. We must have confirmation from the oldest elder." She then stood up and said "Guards, bring Qamara the wise in here." The guards nodded and left.

Rasia wondered why they thought humans were extinct. Why they lived underground. Had they ever lived above ground? Who was Qamara? Question after question rolled through her head.

Within a few minutes, the guards brought in an elf that looked well old. Her skin was incredibly wrinkled, her hair as white as snow, and she could barley walk without the aid of a cane. Laucian got down on one knee and bowed to her. Queen Qirona said "Qamara, we need your help. Please tell us if this newcomer who stands before us is truly a human." Qamara walked to Rasia and began to study her.

Rasia looked at Qamara, leaning away from her a bit as she studied her. "Do I bow to or...?" she asked Laucian. She had no idea what conduct she was supposed to use.

Laucian just shushed her and Qamara looked closely at Rasia. She looked at her ears and saw no scarring. She looked all around her body and finally came to a conclusion. Qamara said "Yes, this is indeed, a human." Everyone in the room was shocked and Laucian stood back up.

"So...what does that mean?" Rasia asked. Now that they had established that she actually was human, what was going to happen?

Queen Qirona said "It means that there is human life on the surface. We can finally rise to it once more. We have been waiting for this moment for centuries."

"Well that's good," Megan said. "But I don't know how the other humans would react to that."

Queen Qirona said "We will take care of that in due time. Right now, an announcement must be made. Laucian gather everyone in the city to the center. They must know about the human."

The whole city? Rasia thought of what might happen if suddenly an entire different race of beings came out of the ground to live with the humans. They didn't even know what a flashlight was. Humans were generally didn't tolerate ignorance, she knew. -
(Huh, I didn't even notice.)
Laucian nodded and walked out to gather a meeting. Within hours the entire city was at the center, surrounding the castle and waiting for whatever the queen had to say. Queen Qirona stood inside, near a balcony and said to Rasia "I don't know if they have gatherings like this on the surface, but I would prefer if you just let me do all the talking. No one has seen a human in centuries so I don't want you to excite them too much. Alright?" -
Rasia nodded. She may be able to explore the unexplored, but she had no guts to go up against such a gigantic crowd like this.

Qirona walked out onto the balcony and started speaking "My fellow elves. Today is a historical day. Our time has come to return to the surface world. Our legend states that a human will come down in our time of need to find the Gilded Bow of Light and bring us to the surface. That very human is with us now." Everyone in the crowd was confused but stayed to hear the queen. She then motioned for Rasia to move forward.
