"Royal guard?" Rasia wondered aloud. He made her remember that she hadn't needed to walk around in the dark. "Hold on, I'll grab my flashlight," she said, reaching into her bag. She flicked it on.

Laucian said "Flashlight?" then suddenly a column of light shined in the cave and he said "What, what's going on?"

He didn't know what a flashlight was? "Hold on, I'll explain when I get over there," she said. She shined the flashlight at the ground in front of her. She finally got to him and turned off her flashlight. The lantern would be enough light for now. She looked up at him. He was tall with long blonde hair, stunningly bright blue eyes, green and brown clothing, and . . . long pointed ears?

By the light of the lantern, Laucian looked at the person in from of him. She had red hair and green eyes but he couldn't see her ears. He asked "Are you a human?"

"Yes," Rasia answered, confused by what was going on. "Are you?"

Laucian didn't answer and moved Rasia's hair to see her ear. He said "I've heard humans have round ears. But I've also heard they all went extinct. Are there more of you?"

"We're not extinct," Rasia said. "There's what, seven or eight billion of us total? We're all over the world. What are you?"

"8 billion?" Laucian said in astonishment. He then looked back and said "You should follow me back to my city. The queen might want to see you."

"At the very most," Rasia said. She started following him. The Queen? There were more of him. "You still haven't answered my question," she said.

Laucian said "I'll tell in a minute." He lead her to the hole he came from and he crawled back into it. He said "Be careful. It's a steep climb." and stared climbing down.

Rasia climbed down after him. She was getting extremely curious about him. She jumped off the last few feet of the climb onto the cold rock floor.

Laucian said "This way." and began walking back to the city. As he got closer, the cave began to light up more and more until the city began to come into view.

Rasia stared wide-eyed at the city. Was this the place she had been looking for for so long? Rasia moved her hair to hide her ears. She should probably try to blend in as much as possible. That might be hard. She might stick out like a sore thumb, if everyone dressed the way Laucian did.

Laucian said "Welcome to Eldonia, the city of elves. The queen lives in that castle, in the center of the city." He then began walking to the city.
Once they entered, all the elves on the streets looked at Rasia. Some whispered things like "What a strange woman." and "Where are her ears, Mommy?" Laucian said "Don't pay any mind to them. They'll know who you are soon." -
Rasia stuck close to Laucian. She looked around, taking it all in. City of elves? The elves that she knew of were the Christmas ones, which didn't even exist. They were most certainly not Christmas elves.
