"Not always," Alastair protested. "It's when everything comes to life and everyday is more beautiful than the last. In fall, everything starts to die."

"I guess I like the smell of the death of trees, then," Rebecca said.

Alastair coughed to cover up a laugh. "Interesting way to put it."

"What, it's true," Rebecca said with a smile

"I will admit that it's very beautiful," Alastair said. "And the weather feels almost luxurious."

"Two other reasons I like it," Rebecca said. "Also roasted pumpkin seeds

"Mmmm," Alastair said. "Alright, I'll give you that."

"Unfortunately there's the people who decorate for Christmas way too early," Rebecca said. "That's one of the only downsides."

"Who says early Christmas is bad?" Alastair said with a hint of amusement.

"No Christmas until after Thanksgiving," Rebecca said stubbornly.

"You've argued this out before, haven't you?" Alastair said with a laugh.

"Many many times," Rebecca said.
