Captain stopped again, then set his quill down. "Thats not any of your business, unless you are here to accept the job i put out" he said, turning fully to look at the human. His ringed eyelights appeared to be drawing in all nearby light as he stared intently into Jonathans eyes

"So you are the one I was looking for," Jonathan stated. His eyes were slightly unsettling, but he didn't say or do anything. "I heard a rumour about it and came to check it out."

Captain just nodded, his eyelight shifting back to crescents as he turned back to the table. He picked up his quill and gestured to the chair across from him. "What do you know of the Shards of Vale" he said

"That they exist," Jonathan said as he sat down in front of the man. "I don't know what they do, though."

Captain gave a low rattling hum. "Thats more then i expected. Most of those outside of the Cult of Vale and the Mithril Wastes dont know of their existence." He said calmly, focused on his map. "The Shards are a trio of Entitys, who where created when the Primordial of Void was destroyed. They contain the largest peices of him, and I intend to hunt them down."

"Primordial of the Void?" Jonathan asked. He had never heard of such a thing. Well, this man could do magic, he probably knew of things he could never even imagine.

"Yes. Vale. He was the first god to exist. He created the Hyzanilk, and ruled the realm with them as his army untill the other gods came into being and destroyed him." Captian explained calmly. "He is also the reason the mithril wastes exist, and his destruction left a scar on this world and left the land practically toxic with how much magic was released into the air. Thats why you will only find Hyzanilk and the cult there. Only those blessed by the Void can survive there."

"Right," Jonathan said. It sounded like a bunch of mythological nonsense to him, but actually kind of made sense. "What are you going to do with the crystals when you find them?"

"Their not Crystals" Captain said, his voice tinged with annoyance. "They are spirits, of sorts. We need to find them, and kill them. I've been researching them for some time now, and i believe i know where at least one is."

"My mistake," Jonathan said. "Where is one of them?" He wanted to get an idea of where they'd be going. He still wanted the skin on his back when he finished the job.

Captain made the quill and book vanish. "The goliath territory's to the west. There are storys of a bipedal wyvern like creature that kills people by phasing in and out of reality." He said, pushing the map over to the human and tapping a place ue had marked

Jonathan raised his eyebrows at the map. "And what are the chances I'll be getting out of this alive?" he asked, looking back. up.at the skull-man. Sometimes life was more than money.

Guardian drummed his fingers on the table. "Relatively low. The Shards will likely ignore you. The only reason i need assistance is in case the Hyzanilk im bringing gets out of hand, or if i become injured." He explained

"I see," Jonathan said and thought it over. He probably wasn't going to get out of this alive. And he was still a young mercenary, he still had his whole life to live out. But something still drew him to the job. He wasn't sure what it was.

"If you decide to join me ill be paying half up front. And you wont be doing all the fighting, i can hold my own if needed" Captain said as he picked up the map and tucked it away in his jacket
