In the center of the room was a glass tank, filled with a translucent green fluid. The inside was covered in thin scratches, but Vitalus was near the middle now, his white eyelights glowing brightly as he stared intently at her
-
Elytra gently touched her hand against the glass. "It must be lonely in there, huh? You must be so confused."
-
He flared his wings at her, but lowered them a few seconds later as he stared at her. "Good, it looks like he has imprinted on you. We're going to drain the tank now"
-
Elytra blinked. "Wait...what? No way."
A bunch of emotions and thoughts flooded through her mind. She wasn't ready! What was going on? All she could do was look at him, and wonder. -
Vitalus looked up as the fluid started draining and started panicking, quickly getting tangled in the wires connected to him
-
"Oh no, he's tangled up," Elytra said, worriedly. "Can I help him?"
-
"Yeah go ahead, ill open the tank." The scientist said before the glass walls of the the tank lowered into the floor. Vitalus whined in distress, his wings vibrating against his back and making a buzzing noise
-
Elytra stepped in carefully, so as not to alarm him. "It's okay," she said gently. "I'm here to help you. I just need you to hold still."
She slowly took the wires and pulled them away from him, un-knotting them with a soft hand. -
Vitalus went still and resumed staring at her, his breath fogging up the breathing mask of his face. He whined again when she tugged at the wired embedded in his neck, pulling them free and leaving two clean holes
-
"Are you okay?" she asked, gently unhooking the mask on his face. "Don't worry, you won't be trapped in here anymore."
-
Vitalus tilted his head at her, not really understanding what she was saying. He started shivering, the room being colder then the fluid he had been in. "His name is Vitalus. He is your responsibility now. He doesnt understand english yet but keep talking to him and he should pick it up within a day or two. You can keep him in your old room for tonight, and you'll both be transfered to the training base tomorrow morning" the scientist said over the com
-
Elytra was still shocked. This kind of responsibility was a gift, yes, but she hadn't even trained a normal human child, much less an experiment.
"Your name is Vitalus, huh?" she said, wrapping a blanket around him. "Well, Vitalus, I'll be taking care of you. I hope that's okay with you."
She began to lead him out of the still wet compartment. -
Vitalus made a little churring sound as his wings fluttered under the blanket, seeming to recognise his name at least. He followed after her, tilting his head a little
-
Elytra led him all the way to her old room. When they arrived, she put pillows everywhere. She leaned back and put her hands on her hips, seemingly satisfied with her work. She patted the pillows.
"See? Cushy. You can lay down on them."
To demonstrate, she flopped on top of them. -
Vitalus tilted his head at her and then flopped next to her. He blinked curiously at the squishiness before he started chewing on one of the pillows, his wings twitching against his back
