She stopped abruptly when she realized that she'd been babbling. -
Phen tilted his head towards her, wondering why she had stopped

"I need to act more like a soldier," she mumbled.

"Yes, I do. I've gotten soft," Ardis said. "And getting soft is basically a guarantee for death."

Ardis bit her lip. Could what Phen said be true? She didn't know.

Phen stretched out his good wing "so how far we goin?

"Pretty far," Ardis said, unfurling a large map. "Here, you can see for yourself."

Phen kinda just glanced at the map "yeah thays not much help for me

"We're here," she said, poking her slim finger on a path. She then drew a line from there to another, far away place. "That's where we need to go."

"Aw f---" was all he said

"Yep," Ardis said, curling up the map. "Well, we might as well make the most of our time. What's your favorite color?"
