Lavinia then saw the beginnings of that fateful day. It had started out happy. Her mother laughing and father looking amused as Lavinia danced and twirled with a ladies and gentlemen made of water. Then a loud crash sounded, breaking Lavinia's focus, the water people falling to the ground in a puddle. She turned to her parents, their faces covered in horror 'Shift Lavinia.HIDE!' her mother said as her father ran around, hiding anything of Lavinia's. Lavinia shifted into a small blue butterfly and rested on a rose in a nearby vase. Her mother and father looked at each other sadly, held hands, and faced the doors, standing tall. When the Hunters busted in, Lavinia almost shifted to human form from fear. Her parents were forced apart, and arrested as the rest of the hunters began ripping the room apart. Lavinia flew towards an open window near the ceiling and rested on the prison cart her parents were in. Her father smiled sadly and mouthed the words 'I'm sorry' to her. The Hunters stormed out of the house. 'WHERE IS SHE?' The leader demanded. 'Who?' Her father answered calmly. The hunter struck her Father hard, causing him to fall unconscious. Lavinia's vision tinged red as she focused on the leader, intending to show him just where she was by shifting into a bear and attacking.Lavinia's mother smacked the side of the cart, causing Lavinia to stumble off her perch, clearing her mind. She flew away as the cart was wheeled off. She flew towards her neighbors garden and tried to figure out how to help her parents. She wasn't sure she could. She visited them one night. She flew through their cell windows. They both wouldn't let her stay more than a few seconds. They both told her to run. To escape this city. But she didn't want to leave without them. The next day, Her parents were executed. She sat on the roof of a nearby home, sobbing.

Jenna took a deep breath, and went into Lavinia's mind. She had been told once that you could take part of a person's physical pain and injuries, but only to do it if it was necessary, as it might kill you, and then your death would leave the other helpless. She entered Lavinia's mind, but she was immediately met with hostility. Lavinia's mind was attacking her. She withdrew some, but not all the way.
-
Lavinia felt someone in her mind. "mom?" She tried to say. She felt the someone withdraw and in a panic she dropped her defences. "MOM??" Lavinia tried again to say.
-
(Oh, and if you do get those books, I have to warn you that the author is perfectly obsessed with roses.)
Jenna felt the attack go away, and slowly went back in. She felt like she was poking an angry bear. She could feel Lavinia's emotions, and flashes of scenes going through her head. There was love, anger, despair. A butterfly on a rose, a bear . . . little things. She lifted up part of the pain, and concentrated on it not touching Lavinia. -
(I understand the feeling and would not mind at all.)
Lavinia could feel the person poking around in her head. She kept trying to get her mother's attention Mom?MOM!she thought. She pictured her mother, trying to see if that would help. -
Jenna felt Lavinia wanting and looking for something or someone. She gave her mind a reassuring feel. She could feel Lavinia's wound in both Lavinia's body and her own.
-
Lavinia felt the presence reassuring her.It had to be her mother!!Lavinia felt happy, but then dizzy. Something was wrong with her shoulder..It doesn't matter because my mother is here! Lavinia thought.
-
Jenna could feel the wound getting worse. But she couldn't do anything about it. She didn't know what she could do about it.
-
As Jenna was occupied and Lavinia unconscious, the hunters, and older man and his adult son were following the blood trail and then the hoof prints on horses of their own. As they got close, they got off their horses and krept closer, stunned by what they saw.The Son was shocked. He hadn't hit a wolf...He hit a woman. He stepped forward, intending to help her, when he stepped on a stick, breaking it with a loud snap
-
Jenna heard a snap, and it completely broke her concentration. She gasped. "No," she barely whispered, shaking her head, "No." She looked up and saw some men. "Why did you do that?" she asked them.
-
The men still looked stunned. "I thought she was a normal wolf. She acted so much like one..I want to help. Will you let me help her?" The younger man asked.
