Hunter stood up as well when the goblins came forward. He put a protective arm in front of Annabelle even though she'd probably do a lot more damage than he would. When they bowed Hunter put on a confused expression. "Overlord? Didn't he get defeated by Amari a few years back?" Hunter asked. He knew the story well, even though it happened when he didn't even know how to walk.
-
Two goblins came forward, a brown one with a trident much too large for him and a blue one with a stone. The blue one broke the stone open, clasped it in the air and opened it again to make a large puff of smoke around it. In the smoke, a magic aura took the form of The Overlord. The Overlord looked at Annabelle and said "My daughter. It is so good to see you again." Annabelle said "Daughter? No you must be mistaken. My parents are here in Widowmire." The Overlord then showed in his hands the same fire and lightning powers she had. He said "I assume you have these powers. Powers like this can only be passed down by parentage and I assume your Widowmire parents don't have powers." Annabelle thought and then realized she was the only one in the village that had these kinds of powers. Perhaps the Overlord truly was her father.
-
"Woah, I don't believe this!" Hunter said. "But- wait, didn't the Overlor- uhh, I mean your father, die years ago?" Hunter asked. "I mean, for all we know this could be a prank set by someone in town who knows an actual witch or something. These goblins could be an illusion," Hunter said, and just to make sure he gently poked one of the goblins on the shoulder.
-
The goblin Hunter poked didn't fade and just looked at him like he was insane. The Overlord said "That was a lie. That cursed fairy warrior didn't have the power to kill me. All she could do was seal me in a crystal. But she couldn't stop my magic, which is how I can talk to you here. However the seal also doesn't stop aging, which is how she plans to kill me and your mother."
-
"She was just gonna let you guys rot in a crystal until you grew old and died? Damn, that's just awful," Hunter says with a frown. He grew up with stories praising Lady Amari, but from what he could tell she wasn't as good as everyone made her out to be.. nobody deserves that kind of punishment. Hunter glances over at Anna to make sure the news wasn't too much for her.
-
The Overlord nodded and said "That is why I approach you now. This trident my minion holds is what I created for my successor. Take it, use it to control the minions, corrupt the land, and claim your birthright as the new Overlord." With this, the Overlord's aura faded and the smoke disappeared. The brown goblin bowed and presented Annabelle with the trident. She was, at first, weirded out and didn't know what to think. But soon she realized that this had to be her destiny. She took the trident and for whatever reason she pointed it into the air and shouted "Potestatem habeo!" Lighting shot from the sky and struck the trident. Magic flowed around Annabelle and suddenly her body began being covered with chainmail and plate armor. When finished only her eyes were visible as glowing in the shadow of her helm.
-
"Woah- okay, wow, damn- woah," Hunter says, at a lost for words. The scene almost felt private, a precious heirloom finally passed onto it's rightful owner, the revelation of the Overlord, Annabelle's power finally making sense- it made him feel small, like he was imposing. Where was his place in all of this? Sure Annabelle was his best friend, but now that she knew about being the Overlord's daughter would she even need him anymore?.. Then Hunter realized he didn't care. He would stick would Annabelle to the ends of the earth, no natter what. "Pffft, should I bow now or something?" He asks her jokingly.
-
Annabelle put her hand on Hunter's shoulder and said "No, what I ask of you is better. I want you to be my partner in crime. The second in command to me, Empress Annabelle." The goblins then stood up and broke their circle. Annabelle then said "With our brains and their numbers, we shall conquer this land, spread the darkness and bring down those that dare to defy us. What do you say?"
(Just a fact about the goblins, they come in four colors with different powers. Brown-most common-warrior, Red- rarest-fire wielder, green-second common-assassin, Blue-uncommon-healer mage) -
"I say... count me in," Hunter says this with a hand on his heart, bowing his head slightly to show his seriousness even though he was usually joking. He only paused for dramatic suspense, in truth he would not hesitate at all to work for Anna. He'd give the world to her, if he could. But Hunter supposed that conquering it was plenty good too.
-
Annabelle said "Good. Now I must ask you a different question. I'm going to use my new power to get my other birthday wish. I am gonna destroy all of Widowmire and leave nothing but my parent's... I mean, my adopted parent's house. I ask of you, do you wish for me to spare your parents as well and relocate them to a different place or shall they burn with the rest of the village?"
(Annabelle's trident: ) -
(Looks rad!!)
Hunter has to consider this. His parents had never been horribly cruel to him, but they weren't exactly loving either. In fact, they were kind of neglectful. He didn't think that he would miss them if they were gone, and Hunter knew it'd probably be better to detach himself from them so that future enemies wouldn't use them against him. "You.. can burn them," Hunter says decisively. -
Annabelle said "Excellent." She then turned to a brown goblin that looked like a captain, pulled out a map of Widowmire and said "Okay, here's our plan. We enter the town and destroy everything, except for this house." She circled her house to show them what not to destroy. She then said "And also, if you find a rich looking woman with blonde hair, bring her to me. I have something special for her." The goblin captain agreed and Annabelle said "Come on." and she started walking with the horde to Widowmire.
-
Hunter stays by Annabelle's side as they walk to Widowmire. "What's our next step after this? Do we conquer villages one by one or head straight for Amari?" Hunter asks. "It's probably better to do the first option. We should build up followers, make an army. Get all the goblins from across the land to join us, then surround her," Hunter suggests.
-
Annabelle said "That is exactly right. We will need more allies to get us enough firepower to take on the queen. But we'll need more than goblins." Once they reached Widowmire, everyone out on the road looked at them and Annabelle said "Good morning, Widowmire. I hope you've had a good day so far, for it will be your last." She then fired a lighting blast killing a random man. This sent everyone into a panic and Annabelle said "Kill!" to her goblins, which proceeded to hunt down and kill anyone they could find.
-
Hunter nods in agreement to the plan, but then he remembers something. "Ah, mind if I stop by my house and grab my bow and arrows?" He asks, but it's more of a statement rather than a question because he's already a few paces away. "I'll meet you back here in a bit!" Hunter promises. It's hard navigating the streets when so many annoying people were running around. He growls and glares at them as he passes.
