Hunter stayed back as he waited for Akron and Annabelle to talk to the orc guard. He didnt like the idea of her going off with him, but he didn't argue because as much as he wanted to protect his best friend he had to trust that she could do this on her own. He caught sight of the orcs behind the wall when the guard opened the door, and he exhaled softly in surprise at the number or orcs.
-
Annabelle beckoned Hunter to come closer and enter the city with them. The guard tried to stop her, but she cast a glare that sent shivers down his spine so he backed off.
-
Hunter obliged and trailed behind Annabelle as they entered the secret orc city. He still had his bow out, but at the moment it was lowered as he surveyed the sight. Hundreds of orcs, all in one place. Hunter couldn't even imagine how many Amari must've locked away in that prison, the poor creatures.
-
Akron lead them through the streets to a large building made of stone. Inside, the ruler was sitting on a stone throne and asked "Who are you, outsiders? And what purpose do you have?" Annabelle answered "I am the new Overlord. I have come to ask for your aid in building a mighty castle and in return I shall keep you safe from the elves that would so wrongly imprison you." There was a moment of silence and then a burst of uproarious laughter as the orc leader didn't believe her at all.
-
Hunter swells with anger at the outburst of laughter, but he tries to remain relatively calm. "This is not a joke. She holds the power to bring down Queen Amari. We all have a common enemy here, this could be used to your advantage if you would have us on your side," Hunter said. Then, quieter, "Trust me, it'd be better to have us as allies rather than enemies."
-
The orc ruler kept laughing and said "There's no way you're the true new Overlord. Just because you have a trident and fancy armor, doesn't mean you have the power of the Overlord. If you truly are the new Overlord, you must prove it with more than words." He then clapped and some other orcs brought in a gigantic stone figure. The ruler said "This golem is one of the autonomous fighting creatures that the previous Overlord asked us to build. He was able to turn it into pebbles with one mighty attack. If you think you're up for it, then you must try the same. Only by doing this will we believe you are a new Overlord."
-
Hunter takes a step back to give the floor to Annabelle. He was sure she could do this, she'd left an entire village nothing but smoldering ash. "Easy as pie," He says with a smile as encouragement to her.
-
Annabelle looked at the golem and took a deep breath. She then took a few steps back and ran towards it. She jumped incredibly high to the face of the golem and stabbed it's forehead with her trident. Magic erupted from the trident and the golem blow to pebbles covering the entire room. The orc leader was impressed and said "You truly are the new Overlord. How may we orcs be of service to you?"
-
Hunter smiles and raises a hand to give Annabelle a high five as she came back down. It was a cheesy move, but he felt that it was okay to do it every now and again, if only to celebrate the fact they now had about 200 orcs on their side just like that. His smile fades away as he faces the orcs with a more serious expression, "The Overlord requires the orcs to build a mighty castle so that we may have a stronghold. We will need it in order to bring down Amari." Hunter says.
-
(I really like your profile picture there. Did you draw that yourself?)
Annabelle high fived Hunter when he held it up. The orc leader said "We will gladly build this stronghold for you but taking down Queen Amari will not be easy. You will need an incredible army and I doubt just us orcs and your endless supply of goblins." Annabelle said "That is why I plan to travel more of the land and hope to find allies to help me." -
(Thanks robo! Yeah I drew a cartoony self potrait because I wasn't finding any good pictures from google)
Hunter adds nothing more to this discussion. He was never much of a talker, except with Annabelle. Now that the convincing part of the deal was done he didn't feel the need to keep going with pointless prattle. Hunter put away his bow, realizing that he never needed it in the first place. -
(That's cool. I wish I could draw like that. All I seem able to do is copy other people's art styles.)
The orc leader smiled and said "Then I would be honored to follow you into the dark, my mistress." Annabelle then nodded and said "Thank you." The leader gave her the best orc builders in the village, which was about five, who built this small community. She escorted them through the city and out of the entrance with Hunter.
(When they exit the cave, I'd like it if General Khan attacked if you don't mind.) -
(Nothing wrong with that, you can never make something out of nothing, copying is just a method of learning :D)
Hunter followed beside Annabelle as they made their way out of the cave. His bow was sheathed, he was totally unprepared when an arrow whizzed past his face. Hunter immediately turned rigid in alarm. He grabbed his bow and said, "Anna-"
General Khan was hiding behind the brush, but an stray soldier had gotten a shot of before he gave the command. "Damn it," he cursed under his breath. Might as well attack before anyone else noticed. Khan raised a hand and made a forward motion, then all of the fairy warriors rushed forward to attack the group. Annabelle and her followers were flanked in seconds. -
(I guess you're right.)
Annabelle unsheathed her trident and saw the fairies surround them. She said "I should have known my destruction of Widowmire wouldn't go unnoticed. I am to assume you are here to stop me by order of Queen Amari?" -
General Khan marched to the front of the fairy group, holding up some sort of hand signal to hold back his troop from attacking. "Your assumptions are correct. You have been found to be a danger to the citizens of this kingdom so you'll have to either be detained or defeated. I can call off my fighters if you agree to come willingly," Khan says. "Of course, the orcs accompanying you will have to be locked up in Corgram Prison for treason."
Hunter glowers. Who does this man think he is? Hunter reached his arm behind his back and pulled out an arrow as the general spoke. Hunter was fully prepared to rain shot after shot down on these fairies, but he waited to see what Annabelle would do first.
