Annabelle walked out of her house and began walking to Hunter's house. As she walked, she could hear the whispers from the other townsfolk again. The whispers that spouted insults and picks at her appearance. Names like Witch-Girl were present as everyone knew of her fire powers. She usually put all of it out of her mind anyway so it stopped bothering her. As Annabelle walked, she stopped when she saw Hunter coming her way. When she saw him, she smiled, but only slightly.

When Hunter caught sight of Annabelle, his usual forboding and angry expression changed in an instant into one of joy. "Annnnnnnnnnaaa!" Hunter said merrily as he barreled towards his favorite person in the world. He was wearing a leather satchel and he seemed oblivious of the townsfolk's insulting whispers. When Hunter caught up to Annabella he picked her up and spun her in a circle.

Annabelle was surprised when Hunter picked her up but she didn't complain because she like it. She said "Hello Hunter. I didn't expect to see you out and about. I was about to come to your house." As she talked, she was wondering if he did get anything for her birthday, not that it mattered. Hunter being there when no one else would was always good enough.

"I know you were, I was tryna catch you before you left your house," Hunter said with a laugh as he set her down. "We should go find some cover," He says, looking up at the sky like it was a person he was angry with. "Can't have the birthday girl get soaked after all."

Annabelle said "That would be nice." She then pulled her cloak up over Hunter and said "Let's go." and started walking with him to their normal meetup spot outside of the village. As they walked, they got the attention of Isabelle, richest woman in town and Annabelle's rival. She got in front of both of them and asked "Where are you going?"

Hunter's face switched from happy to annoyed like a switch. "Away from you, obviously," Hunter says without missing a beat. He supposed that he shouldn't be so straight edged around people, but he couldn't help himself, especially when he knew how much Annabelle disliked Isabelle.

Isabelle said "That's just the only thing I don't understand about you, Hunter. Why do you insist on being with the homely, Witch-Girl, when you can be with someone who has money?" Annabelle said "Yes but said person also has a blonde rat's nest for hair." Isabelle retorted "You're one to talk, Miss Vampire Skin. Seriously, you probably shouldn't be out here in the day, you'll burn."

"I'd say the same for you: ogres really shouldn't be out during the day time," Hunter says to Isabelle tauntingly. "I could never be with someone who would rather have money than common decency and respect," Hunter ruffled Anna's hair, "Atleast this one's fun to hang out with. I'll take a badäss powerful witch over a whiny ogre any day."

Isabelle said "Ugh. You can't assume I don't have those. And besides, how much fun could she provide?" She then grabbed Hunter's arm and pulled him away from Annabelle. She said "Just come with me and I'll show you some real fun." Annabelle grabbed his other arm and said "I am warning you right now, Isabelle. Let him go and leave us alone or you're going to regret it." Isabelle said "Make me, Witch-Girl." That did it. Annabelle charged up lightning from her hand and blasted Isabelle into a wall. It didn't kill her, just singed and bruised her. Annabelle then angrily stomped away to her and Hunter's meetup spot. A large oak tree right outside of town.

"Woah," Hunter says after Isabelle blasts away and into the side of some poor person's house. Isabelle almost took him with her, but he didn't really see that as Anna's fault, she should've never grabbed onto his arm in the first place. "Birthday girl, wait up, that was pretty epic!" He says, trying to catch up to her, one hand reaching for her and one hand on his satchel.

Annabelle ignored him until she reached the tree. She had to calm down so she didn't hurt Hunter. She sat down and said "Sorry Hunter. I just didn't want to spend another minute in town." She then looked at the town and said "I hate this place. I want everything in it wipe off the face of the Earth. Except for you and my parents."
Unknown to them, a group of creatures were in the shadows, looking right at Annabelle and Hunter. -
Hunter sat down under the shade of the tree and patted a spot on the ground next to him, indicating for Annabelle to sit down. "Aw, no need to apologize black berry," Hunter says, calling Anna an old nickname he'd made up for her when they were children. "I know what'll cheer you up!" Hunter holds up the satchel with a smile. "Gotta close your eyes first," Hunter says.

Annabelle sat down and closed her eyes. She wondered what this could possibly be. She never really asked for anything but she like getting things from Hunter.
The creatures looked for a while and took out a picture of someone they were looking for. The picture looked exactly like Annabelle. So the creatures found who they were looking for and now had to wait for the perfect opportunity to reveal themselves. -
Hunter took out a sheath from the satchel; inside the sheath was a specially crafted dagger made from rare metal. "Well, you know that I have that cousin who's a blacksmith, and she visited a while ago and this reminded me of you so I begged her to let me have it," Hunter explains with a shy smile. Was it weird to get a girl a knife for her birthday? Probably, but Anna wasn't like most girls.

Annabelle opened her eyes and looked at the dagger. She took it out of the sheath and looked at it more. This present made her smile some more and she said "Thank you, Hunter. This is very thoughtful." Just then the strange creatures marched towards the pair. It was then that they were revealed to be goblins and they surrounded Annabelle and Hunter. Annabelle stood up and was ready to try and take them down but something unexpected happened. All of the goblins bowed down and said "All hail the new Overlord."
