Timeskip?)
Hunter followed Annabelle to their room. It was more furnished than the last time they'd been there. Hunter shook his head. "I don't even think I want to know how and where the orcs are getting curtains and fancy vases from," He mumbled before blowing out the candles. -
(To what point? To the invasion or just the next morning?)
-
(Either one I guess 😅)
-
(Let's go for morning.)
Annabelle was awake earlier than normal so she could prepare for their sneaky assault on the Elven and Dwarven Woods. She didn't want to leave a single detail out. Dwarves are not a people to take lightly. -
Hunter eventually rolled out of bed and onto the floor, as per normal for him. He was comically covered in a blanket as he wormed his way to the washroom. Mornings just weren't his thing, his grogginess gave off waves of weary energy.
-
Annabelle made sure she only brought the strongest and stealthy of all her minions so as not to fail. This was the first test of her power as the Overlord and failure is not an option.
-
Hunter emerged from the washroom and was slightly less tired. He placed the covers back on the bed, sure that someone else would make it up, before heading to where Anna was preparing for the EDW mission. "Need a hand?" He asked.
-
Annabelle just shoved a sword and shield in his hands and said “Use this when your bow is empty. Also make sure you have plenty of arrows.”
-
"As a last resort, sure," Hunter says. He never did like close-range battle. It was always messier and less calculated. Hunter made sure his quiver was full and strapped the sword and shield to his sides.
-
Soon, everything was ready and they were about to set out but Annabelle talked to the orc commander she was leaving in charge until she returned. "We're all prepped to go and we leave now. You keep this place up until I return, Gronic." she said. Gronic said "Yes, ma'am." Annabelle then said "Also, keep an eye on our blacksmith. Make sure she doesn't do something that'll make me regret hiring her."
-
"I'm sure she knows her place," Hunter assured Annabelle. He was attempting to assure himself just as much as he was her, though. Cyra knew what would happen if she tried to do anything fishy. He wanted to know what she knew about Widowmire before any blood was shed.
-
Annabelle said "Still, let me know if she's up to anything." Gronic nodded and she shouted "EVERYBODY! MOVE OUT." and they all began their on way to the Elven and Dwarven Woods.
-
While they were traveling Hunter did not tell riddles or joke around with the goblins like last time. He was in stoic silence, deep in thought. It was hard to tell what was going through his mind, but no doubt that this new development caused a great relief to the others.
-
After a five day travel, Annabelle's troops made it to the border of the Elven and Dwarven Woods. It was nighttime and the darkness gave them some good cover but crucially made the dense woods darker. This would do nicely for everyone.
-
"Okay, everyone. Remember the plan. Me and the Overlord will lead a small party to the pool. If we're caught or surrounded we'll send up the flares. Everyone that's remaining in the woods' edge should be on watch." Hunter announced to the troops.
