"I don't trust her either," Hunter said, thinking about what she'd said about his mother. Damn. Why hadn't he just stabbed her? Did Cyra mention this just to make Hunter lose his focus? "Don't doubt her ability though. She makes the sharpest swords, the sturdiest shields. Rich nobles would often sponsor her to make weapons, but she only used the money to help Calnace. The city was bankrupt and starving before she came into the picture," Hunter explained.
-
Annabelle said “So, she has good reason to not betray us. I sure would hate to burn it all to the ground and render her work for nothing. We’ll have to think about that later. For now, we must consult our new map and figure out where to go next.”
-
Hunter nodded, but his mind had quickly wandered. If his mother was alive, Cyra had to know where she was hiding. Somewhere in Calnace, maybe? Hunter tried to shake his thoughts away as he spread the map they'd found out over a table.
-
The map was blank at first but soon started drawing itself with no one doing anything. It drew out Annabelle's castle instead of Widowmire and soon began to draw a path to the first mystic pool.
-
"A map that updates itself. Pretty useful," Hunter commented. He followed the path that the map was showing and began to commit it to memory. Better safe than sorry. If Amari caught wind of Annabelle possessing this map she'd stop at nothing to take it from them.
-
Annabelle said "Indeed. Looks like the first mystic pool is in the Elven and Dwarven Woods. A place where elves and dwarves live in harmony. It's right smack in the middle of their town."
-
"So how do we approach? Do we go in swords blazing or stealthily?" Hunter asks Annabelle. He would prefer the more exciting former option, but it might be wiser to do the latter.
-
Annabelle said "We're gonna have to be sneaky. Go in under the shroud of darkness and corrupt the pool. Elves and dwarves are formidable fighters when by theirselves. Put them together and it would be a bad idea to attack like that, even with orcs."
-
Hunter nodded. "If it's a stealthy mission then the less people that come with us, the better. They'll still have to be strong though in case we have to fight our way out. We can also have some of our forces waiting outside EDW and we can signal them if we need them," he suggested.
-
(EDW?)
Annabelle said "That is a good idea. We'll leave in the morning, it's getting late." -
(Elven and Dwarven Woods? Lol)
Hunter nodded and rolled up the map. "We should put this somewhere safe too," Hunter said. He looked warily around the room, trying to look for any crevices or hiding places. -
(Oh, I thought it was some military tactic I wasn't aware of.)
Annabelle said "I know a place." She then took the map and walked to the wall. She then slid a stone into the wall and opened a hidden door behind the stone. She put the map inside, closed and locked the door and replaced the stone. -
-
Hunter clapped and smiled. "Color me impressed. Who else knows about this secret entrance? Did the orcs build it here? If the map were to be tampered with we'll need to know who to punish," Hunter said.
-
Annabelle said "I asked but one orc to put it in and he knows the punishment for defying me. Come on, let's go to bed."
