made a pony

(Aight.)
All eyes had fallen on Creeping Cloud, and she took a moment to survey the room before she spoke again.
"The changelings have made their way into Canterlot."
Gasps of terror erupted around the room. Sekhmet wasn't surprised- she'd heard the rumors as she'd made her way through the busy streets earlier that morning, but to hear them cemented by a reliable source did instill in her a sense of urgency. She'd never encountered a changeling before. Wasn't that something Princess Twilight and her little friends usually took care of?
Creeping Cloud waited for the crowd to quiet down again, but it took a minute, and a restlessness had settled over the room.
"They've taken the places of several ponies in town. Many have been discovered- many others could still be laying low. I've called you all here today because we need to get to the bottom of this. I'll be assigning you all partners, for safety and verification purposes. It will be your job as a team to find a reliable means of identifying one another, in the event that a changeling does manage to infiltrate the agency." -
Smokey-Heart shivered. This meant she’d have to slow down progress on her wings and speed up progress on the changeling identifying device.
It was taking her longer than anticipated, considering she had no real way to test it beyond checking the maths behind it.
The unicorn nodded along in understanding, she thought this was a brilliant idea, and she was already thinking of different ways to identify and verify her partner, whoever it was.
Hopefully they could stop this mess sooner rather than later, so she could finally manage to perfect her wings. -
Sekhmet tried to pay attention as Creeping Cloud rattled off a list of unfamiliar names in pairs, but she'd never even seen most of these ponies before, and it would be impossible for her to remember them all.
"Smokey-heart," she called out, and Sekhmet perked up. At least she knew that one. "You'll be partnered with Sekhmet."
Really? She'd been paired with the only other pony she recognized? Was that a coincidence or intentional? She glanced over at the unicorn standing across the room. At least she wouldn't have to carry this team. Smokey-heart was competent, from what she'd heard.
Several more pairings were announced, and then it seemed the meeting was coming to a close.
"Each team will be assigned certain areas and ponies to investigate tomorrow morning." Creeping Cloud said, although, once again, it was hard to hear her over the sounds of voices muttering among themselves. This was uncommon behavior- she usually commanded such respect, no one dared speak out of turn in her presence. The irritation was starting to show on her face as it took several more minutes for the voices to die down. She looked around again, taking a deep breath in through her nose.
"As you all know, our leaders place a lot of value on the concept of friendship. It gives me heartburn just to think about, but it's not my place to question them. Only to keep them and every other pony safe. I don't really buy all that 'kill em with kindness' stuff, so this will be the only time you'll hear me say this. Having a relationship of some kind with your partner will be vital here. You can have your secret handshakes and your code words, but at the end of the day, those can be learned. You'll need to know who you're dealing with on a level that cannot be faked. I want you all to take the day to get to know your partners. I've tried to make this easier for you all by assigning you partners you should already be familiar with, but this line of work isn't exactly a social one, so I understand you'll all need time. Do your best, and be back here at the same time in the morning. Keep each other safe. Dismissed." -
Smokey-heart was surprisingly excited. Her line of work didn’t lead to a lot of peer relationships. It was typically just her and her machines. Not that she minded that, or really tried to change it.
Smokey wasn’t opposed to having friendship, she just typically struggled with it, since she was pretty fast paced, and had been known to be just a little too intense for most ponies.
This grim situation had provided her with the perfect opportunity to finally make a best friend. The moment they were dismissed the Unicorn bounced over to the alicorn. She glanced at her wings, they looked very pretty. She’d need to ask about them later.
“ Hello! Sekhmet right? I’m smokey-heart! It looks like we’ll be spending an awful lot of time together, oh! Follow me I have the perfect place we could go to get to know each other!” The unicorn explained, giving her new partner very little time to respond, before she started out the door.
Smokey was very excited to say the least.
( after playing a bunch of shy and anxious character recently, smokey heart is just an experience.) -
(I feel it lmfao)
Sekhmet had turned to join her partner across the room in time to come nose to nose with the enthusiastic unicorn. She listened with a startled expression as the mechanic introduced herself, said something about following her, and then walked away. Damn, she was cheerful. Even in light of the circumstances. Sekhmet wasn't sure how to take that.
She blinked, clearing her thoughts before begrudgingly starting off after Smokey-heart.
"Where are we going?" she asked. -
“ my house.” The pony said as if it was obvious. “ most meeting places could be compromised, but there’s no way a changeling managed to find my house.” The mechanic comments casually. “ it’s on the cliffside. So to get to it, you either need my key, wings or mad parkour skills.” Smokey heart explained.
“ It has the most amazing view of the sky ever! I built it myself. I had some help obviously, but all of the electronic and mechanical work was me. “ she gushed, she didn’t really show her house to people.
Smokey wasn’t certain that her employers were actually sure where she’d lived, because of her vague answer. It wasn’t intentional, she just found it hard to focus on specific things when they didn’t interest her, and sharing so many personal details one after the other, was so boring!
Personally, smokey thought that the only thing that mattered was someone’s ability and their actions. Sure a lot of the agents seemed nice enough, but they’d never been enough to try to befriend her fully.
“ it gives us a private location to talk, without freaking anyone out with information, but also prevents anyone in the lower departments from eavesdropping.” -
Sekhmet followed quietly, surprised by the turn the day had taken. She wasn't sure what she'd expected, maybe immediate action. She certainly hadn't been prepared for what felt like a sleepover with a stranger. Why did it have to be Smokey's place anyway? Sekhmet was sure her family hadn't been compromised- she knew them far too well, had them down to a science. Of course, there was no reason for her to get their hopes up, that she'd made a friend for them to latch onto. Actually..
"Do you live with family?" Sekhmet called ahead. She hadn't realized just how far she'd been trailing behind until she found herself trotting to avoid yelling the rest of their conversation. -
Smokey stilled at the question. “I do not.” She confirms quickly. She enters a secret passage in the cliff side with her key, leading to a lift.
She waits for the other pony, a little worried about her possible reactions to the house. It really didn’t comply with traditional architecture.
The house had charm so she appreciated it, -
Sekhmet paused briefly, sensing tension at mention of a family. She figured it was a sore subject and decided to avoid it for the time being. She watched the unicorn open a passage and enter through it, and crept up to it herself, peering through the opening.
"No way." she breathed to herself. Oh, that was cool.
She followed her down, experiencing on her way through a moment of clarity wherein she realized it would be way too easy to lure her into a trap. Could the agency really be sure that the changelings hadn't infiltrated their ranks already? More importantly, would she ever have a chance to see a house in a cliffside again? Curiosity won out over caution in a landslide. She rationalized she could probably take a changeling by herself if Smokey did turn out to be an imposter. Probably. -
Smokey-Heart was bouncing on the lift pad, waiting for Sekhmet. Smokey had pulled her goggles down.
“ just to warn you, it can get really bright up at the top.” She says helpfully.
Smokey looked very excited, which was a fair assessment considering the love she put into her home.
In her opinion, if someone didn’t love their house, then it wasn’t their home. -
Sekhmet was becoming more enthusiastic as she came to the lift pad where Smokey-heart waited. She came to stand beside her, looking around curiously. She really built all of this herself, huh? She really was capable.
"Alright, what now?" -
( I thought I’d responded and I was really confused for like a minute.)
The house sat right on the cliff side. It was very tall, and the way it was designed it blended into the surrounding forest, and when that became impossible it blended into the sky itself, before seemingly disappearing.
Up close one could see the multiple panels that made up the homes exterior, the closer one got the more obvious it became that -on the lower levels at least- these panels were not fully attached to the house, or each other.
The building appeared as if each storey was stacked just a little too far to the wrong side. The house had a slight zigzag shape going on. The surrounding area was very pretty. The sound of animals nearby was present.
Leading up to the door was a path of stone slates which allowed one to walk over the river that flowed into a water fall that rushed off the cliff.
The lift pad was directly in front of this path, leading into it.
The front was not taken up by this river however, as the area had been filled with gravel around it, with pretty pebbles serving as a barrier. There appeared to be fish on all sides.
On both sides atop of floating wooden platforms was a glass table and several antique-looking white chairs.
The door was odd. It didn’t seem to fit the aesthetic of this level, it wasn’t pretty, or ornate. In fact it looked like it was made of metal.
“ well! I’d advise that you watch your step, the river is pretty strong, and it’s easy to loose your hoofing if you’re not careful.” Smokey laughed misunderstanding the question.
Smokey hops over the stones with ease, flicking up a small part of the wall, that had no panels.
This action revealed a ( I forgot the word for the thing you put key codes into). Smokey quickly entered the code, keeping the keys covered.
She punched something else in before she walked inside the house.
“ name Smokey heart, species: unicorn, designation : 000.” A mechanical voice read out.
“ well hurry up slowpoke!” Smokey called poking her head out.
( could you tell I was excited to describe her home?)
( okay so what smokey did, was punch in the identification of Sekhmet, this way if she, or someone who appeared to be her, somehow entered the home without the knowledge of Smokey heart, she’d be alerted without hostile security kicking in.
The machine can not identify changelings, so if one of them was replaced it would misidentify their species.
Smokey has let two non family members enter her home, who both have recognisation , so the designation of Sekhmet would be 003. )
( if anything is unclear in design just let me know.) -
(Hey, sorry, been really tied up the last couple days. Thanks for the clarification.)
Sekhmet stood staring at the first stepping stone leading up to Smokey's home for a moment. Imagine having to perform some gymnastic feat every time you wanted to get in or out of your house. Imagine trying to navigate this at night.
She set a hoof down hesitantly on the first stone, stepping fully onto it when she was sure it was secure. The next few she cleared with confidence, before a hoof skidded off the edge and she almost fell off into the rushing river. There she stood for a moment, reevaluating all of her choices.
"Wait, is there any reason I can't fly over this?" she called ahead, wondering if she was stupid or just fully immersed for not having thought of that before.
(Are you saying that if a changeling came in looking like Sekhmet, it would be identified as an alicorn?) -
( yeah, I thought it would be way too op if Smokey had a device that could identify changelings right at the start.)
“ oh, no you can fly.” She says smiling pleasantly. “ just be careful not to bump into anything.” The pony warns as she returns back inside. Running to her kitchen, she started brewing some coffee and getting out some of the cakes she’d bought the night before. -
(Aight, just checking.)
Sekhmet stared after the unicorn for a moment, embarrassed with herself for forgetting about her wings. She waited until Smokey had been out of sight for a moment before sighing quietly and opening her wings.
As she landed carefully on the other side, she came to the door and looked it over for a moment. She couldn't help but be impressed- the wide range of knowledge the other would need to construct a home like this was astonishing. She stepped through the threshold and a robotic voice announced her presence.
"Name: Sekhmet. Species: alicorn. Designation: 003."
She found Smokey in the kitchen, hurrying about preparing food.
"What's the designation for?" she asked absentmindedly, more of her attention on taking in her surroundings than the actual answer.
