Isaac looked to Caroline, raising his eyebrows. He thought for a few moments before responding. Just about the city, I guess. I haven't been out and about too often and there are some things I miss, I guess.. He stared at her for a moment, smiling again, but this time with an inkling of sadness laced within the happy feature.
-
Caroline simply nodded, storing away that information for a later date. “This is our stop.” She said, getting up abruptly as the bus slowed to a halt.
She pulled out her list of foods and more as they stepped off the bus. “Firstly, breads.” She said, grabbing a cart as she took in the smells and sounds of the market for a moment. -
As Isaac exited the hulking vehicle, he found himself with his arms crossed tightly over his chest in an almost sheltered yet aggresive position. He followed closely behind Caroline, allowing himself to inhale the various aromas of the market. As they meandered throughout the various aisles in search of the bread, Isaac was sure grab glances in every direction in order assure the highest level of security for he and his partner. Eventually, they came to the bread aisle, a multitude of different loaves staring back at them.
Isaac looked to Caroline. You know, I always wondered why there were so many brands and styles of bread. Most of the brands taste the same, anyway. He peered at the labels before he pulled down a loaf of Italian and a loaf of rye. After gently placing them into the cart, he considered whether or not his guest shared the same preferences. Is there any kind you like in particular? He wanted Caroline to at least feel like she had choices and a say in matters. It wasn't only up to him -
“I believe you’re incorrect there. Different ingredients and mixing styles and rising times can lead to very different types of bread. Like brioche fo example,” She said, picking up a loaf of brioche and placing it in the cart. “Rich and buttery, it does well as toast or even just a midnight snack. Statistically speaking, it’s one of the best breads. On the other hand, sourdough,” She waved to the sourdough but didn’t pick it p. “is tangy and chewy. They may be virtually the same, but they’re also worlds apart.” She looked at the bread he had chosen and nodded. “This is an acceptable amount.” She said, somewhat to herself, as they went towards the deli section.

Bump cuz it fell to the second page))

Sorry I was at college and the fire academy all day yesterday and I cleaned my room and guinea cages today))
Isaac listened with half-interest, half-boredom. Bread just wasn't his idea of enoyable, investing small talk. He simply signed, Ah. The more you know!. He followed Caroline as she made her way to the deli-section. Besides checkout, this was Isaac's least favorite section of the store. It was always so busy, and half the time, the precut meats and cheeses were lacking, so that meant talking to the deli workers. And doing that evoked so many questions like what kind? How much? How thick? How thin? It was overwhelming, to say the least. He frowned as they grew closer. -
It's alright!
Fire Academy? Do you plan on being a firefighter of some sort? I hear it's the happiest job))
"I'll handle it, since you're clearly stressed." She said, noticing his frown. She didn't, however, allow him to just leave her. While ordering the various meats(turkey, salami, ham - the superior sandwich meat) she made sure he stayed close so that he wouldn't try to avoid people. She had seen and researched the problem, isolated the problem, and now she was going to eradicate it. A perfect algorithm, every time. -
I have been a firefighter for a year and some change, but now I'm 18 so I can learn all the crazy s---)
Isaac was slightly perturbed at the fact that Caroline has chosen to make him stay so close. He felt somewhat like a child, but he didn't complain. He knew that she was most likely just doing her job, and getting mad at her for that would do nothing to help either of them. After the cart was stocked with the meat that Caroline had ordered, he very reluctantly bowed his head in the worker's direction as a way to say 'thank you'. The worker nodded back in a friendly manner, prompting Isaac to turn away. Good choices. I really like turkey. He started to pad over to the produce section that was situated near the deli aisles, of course remaining close to his partner at all times. -
“I prefer salami; but yes, turkey is good.” She said in her norms, bland voice, as she looked around for good produce. She stocked up on veggies of all shapes and kinds; except for bock choi. It was the only food she couldn’t stand. Off all the foods she had ever made or consumed, bock choi was the one thing that she actually disliked.
-
Isaac nodded awkwardly, watching as she chose fruits and vegetables galore. It was more than he would ever willingly purchase on his own. Living on his own, he never felt that large shopping trips were necessary. He would really have to be cautious so that the food didn't go to waste. As he stood around, he noticed the grocery store becoming busier. It was usually calm around this time of day. He pondered whether or not there was a storm coming because that typically forced people to shop just in case of an emergency. He tapped his foot anxiously, looking over his shoulder every now and again. He knew they still needed more food from the other aisles, but a part of him wanted to leave as soon as possible.

Caroline looked back at Isaac and noted his anxiety. Surprisingly delicate, this one.. she thought to herself. She finished up in the produce quickly, considering the amount of vegetables and fruits in the cart.

The sheer amount of products in the grocery store took Isaac's interests for a few moments. Every single food had about ten to fifteen brands to choose from. Not only that, but the variety of each product was astounding. To have, what, one hundred different types of apples in the United States alone was absolutely insane.
As he noticed more and more how many products there were, he started to realize the amount of people in each aisle. There we so many kinds of people. Good people, bad people, crazy people...He took a deep breath, trying to relax himself. Before his accident, he'd had subtle anxiety. The kind that bothered him but never really impacted him. After the accident, however, it was like he couldn't get a grip. No matter what he did he just couldn't calm down. That's what he felt like walking through the store with Caroline.
As they approached the frozen aisles, he slowed his pace, letting his partner in front of him just a bit. Very swiftly, he turned away, spotting the sign that pointed to the restrooms. He hurried toward it, glancing back once to make sure he was in the clear. In a matter of a few seconds, he threw himself into the bathroom, finding an unoccupied stall and closing it behind him. He breathed unevenly, closing his eyes in an attempt to relax himself. -
It took Caroline a few seconds to realize that Isaac had left her behind. She looked around, trying to pot him, but couldn't. "Did I push him too far...?" She wondered aloud. She might have been an interpreter, and a teacher, but she had only been a guide and such for a short few times. They didn't often let her do it for long; they either found her creepy or boring.
She stopped her shopping to search for Isaac. Eventually, she came to the conclusion that he was in the restroom. She decided to wait for him outside, and then she'd confront him about it. Or, if he took too long, barge in there herself. She wasn't afraid.
