Nia, this time, was able to keep her laughter inside. If Alex was her real brother and she hadn't had a crush on him, she would have popped out of the hiding spot and let out her questions and jokes. However this was certainly not that case. Nia closed her eyes, enjoying the fresh air as she zoned out, now listening merely for the sound of his voice.
-
Franco took a roll of duct tape from his pack, and tapped Alex's mouth shut. "You have been say way too many things about Ne- I mean X" Franco corrected himself very quickly, proceeding to tape his mouth shut as well
-
Nia blinked at Franco's words. No... She must have heard wrong. Nia chuckled at herself and shook her head before continuing down the park trail, heading for home. She glanced back at Alex, held in laughter from seeing the duct tape, and continued walking. This was a lot of information for one day.
-
Later, Alex came home. It was about 6, a decent time to come home. He bowed at Mother, and then at Nia. He noticed father was gone, and knew he wouldn't be back for at least a few months. Alex took off his shoes, and went into the shared room. He sat on his bed, and took off his pack, leaving the duct tape
-
Mother was confused by the duct tape but said nothing. "Strange boy, isn't he?" Nia's mother chuckled. "Yeah..." Nia sighed, her mind in another place. "I don't know many teenagers who bow unless they're joking." She continued. "Or come home with duct tape over their mouth unless they're bullied." She added. "Oh shoot..." Nia muttered in realization. Alex hadn't been being sarcastic when he bowed and acted overly polite to the guy being rude to him. That was a real apology. Now feeling like an idiot, and embarrassed from her mother's confused stare, Nia wished there was a place to go for privacy. Why did she have to share a room when her step father was rich enough to afford separate rooms? Nia got up, deciding to explore he place to find a room she could go to for private.
-
Alex wanted to use the bathroom, not to use it. Just to sit in the tub. He usually did that when he was unsure. But, he decided to stay in bed. He lied down, not lifting up the perfectly made blanket. He simply laid there, starting at the ceiling. He sighed through his nose, and did nothing more
-
Nia opened her bedroom door, only to see Alex on his bed. She was about to close it, but remembered how he was behaving at the park. He was worried about how this crush felt about him. Did her avoiding him contribute to that? Nia sighed as she entered, sitting on her own bed. "Your school is... well... It's interesting to say the least." She chuckled as she looked at anything but him to avoid studying him.
-
Alex nodded slowly, closing his eyes. He wanted to take the duct tape off, but he heeded his friend's advice. If he said anything, it could mess things up big league
-
"I like Mrs. Trech though, she seems pretty nice. Odd, but really nice... However I think she... Never mind... it's stupid." Nia chuckled, muttering the last part. A logical guy like Alex would certainly judge her for believing in mind reading. "Anyways, what I'm saying is... The school won't be that bad..." She sighed.
-
Alex held up his hand, and made it into a 👌. He set it down, and then rolloed off his bed .
-
Nia chuckled and allowed herself to study him. "Hey, why are you wearing that duct tape anyways?" She asked. "You didn't become a monk and take a vow of silence did you? Because I knew you were a bit uptight, but that would be a whole new level of strict." Nia chuckled.
-
Alex had hit his head, but he didn't pay attention to it. He reached under his bed, and pulled out a laptop
-
Nia chuckled and sighed as she looked out the window. She hoped Alex didn't think she was a complete idiot.
-
He opened Google Docs, and typed "You're a complete idiot." before handing the laptop to Nia
-
(You know that's not what girls mean when they say: It's as if he can read my mind! 😝)
Nia frowned as she looked at the laptop and began typing on it. "What makes you think that? P.S. You do realize this counts as talking, and violates a silent vow or silent treatment." She typed before passing it back.
