Nia paused before looking to Alex, wondering if he knew. "About who?" She asked, playing it dumb as she looked away nervously.

"I can tell you and your father have a rough relationship. You really think I didn't notice? I've noticed plenty" Alex said, his hair casting a shadow over his face

Nia fidgeted nervously with her fingers and looked up at him. "How much have you noticed?" She asked, hoping he didn't know how she felt about him, or the incident earlier, or that she eaves dropped on him earlier, or the truth of what happened with her and her father.

"Not much. Just your relationship with your father, trying to deal with school, just the basics" Alex shrugged

Nia let out a large sigh of relief as she pulled out another book. "Oh, Sherlock Holmes! That might be a book you'd like!" Nia cheered to change the topic.

"No thank you. I'm not interested in detective work" Alex shrugged and continued walking
