Since 2065, technological had started to grow on the planet. All seven continents have strived with their technological advancements. But in 2112, all of that changed. As we grew, so did our technology, and machines. They became self aware. In 2114, The Great Advanced War took place. After a long 6 year span, the war came to an end. Earth wasn't the same. The continents had started merge back together again, forming 3 new continents, (North America, South America and Africa as one called The Westernlands, Europe, Asia and Australia as another called the Easternlands, and the arctic as one called the Southernland) all separated from one another by huge walls.
The year is now 2134,
Due to the GAW, any machine that isn't steam powered is outlawed, putting tech in a Victorian like (Steampunk) state. Clothing is different.(modern steampunk like clothing) Transportation is different, and so is health. Without the advances of technology to help humanity, people are beginning to fall ill with no chance of survival. A group of outsiders from the Westernlands must venture on beyond the walls, to see if somehow any of the other continents have more advanced technology. But beyond the walls, the group learns a dirty secret.
prolly needs work, but anyone can join if interested.
and remember, this is steampunk themed. No modern weapons or anything. Be creative! Look up steampunk things if you need to.

Wears: Black shoes, black pants, black suspenders, a white buttoned shirt, a grew vest (suspenders are over this) black bowtie, blue buttoned jacket over all of it, but it is left unbuttoned. He also has a robotic left arm, start from his hand to below his elbow, and it looks like this:

Bio: James was born in the year 2100, just before all hell broke loose. When he was 18, he was drafted into the GAW, where he lost his arm protecting a fellow soldier. Before he could get any kind of robotic replacement, The law forbidding any kind of tech non-steam powered came to be. Until 2126, he worked with no left arm at a saw mill, providing for his family. In 2130, he crafted his arm with the help of a friend. He still works at the mill, but begins to leave his job temporarily, with his friends to find any advanced technology.

Also, I think your character could help further the plot robo, what if...
even steam powered robots are frowned upon due to them having some form of intelligence, so we find a way to bridge the gap to prove that not all robots are bad, no matter who they are? I could even be your creator if you'd like.) -

Bio: Bastion was created by an unknown Swedish scientist, the first of many to help defend mankind through any crisis. This unit in particular was given a voice and acted like the scientist's son. During the GAW, the units fought valiantly to defend the humans. He got lost during these events and got deactivated. He rose up again when a white dove accidentally pressed the right button and he came back. He hopes he can be helpful to humans once again
Other: The white dove in the picture is named Ganymede.
