Matilda tripped on a tree root and fell to the ground. She began panicking, tucking at her leg even though she knew she was doing it wrong. She was on the break of a melt down and noticed she dropped the order. She checked her watch and took deep breaths. If she didn't calm down right now, she would be late and she would be fired. She paused and studied her foot which was caught in the root and wondered how to get it out as she took deep, panicked breaths and tried to keep calm.

Bastion began to follow them both. Unfortunately, he is not fast and sent Ganymede to follow them.

James finally caught up to the girl, and knelt down by her.
"Ok, what are you running from?" -
Matilda looked at him nervously and sighed. "I saw my sister in the market... She... It's complicated..." Matilda told him. "She can't see me, and she uses this short cut too. Besides... I need to get these groceries delivered." Matilda muttered, getting an idea. She grabbed her pocket knife and reached over to the tree root. "I'm sorry." She told the tree, before beginning to cut its root.

Ganymede perched on a branch and watched the two.

"Do you need help? Or a job maybe?" James suggested

Matilda finished cutting herself free and cleaned her knife before returning it. "Yes, thank you. What kind of job?" She asked, taking out a roll of duck tape to tape the tree root back together so it could heal. She then stood up and dusted herself off before looking around. Her sister's family must have taken a different path. Matilda sighed in relief before picking up the bag that she could now use for her own groceries. That is, if the job the man offered was a good option.

"Anything. You look like you aren't getting paid much or at all really, so maybe I could help you?" James asked

"There aren't many jobs avaliable... I had to drop out of high school." Matilda admitted, a bit embarassed. "How are you going to protect the robot?" She then asked, not really noticing that she was off topic, just curious.

Bastion soon caught up and said "Is everything alright?"

"Well....Um....That............is a great question. I'll probably just hide him in the shed or something. Just for the time being. We gotta figure something out for you though." James said. "We'll find you a job, too. I promise."

Matilda nodded. "Alright. Thank you." She replied. "My name is Matilda." She told him, offering her hand for him to shake.

James took the had and shook it. "James. It's a pleasure to meet you." James smiled. "Well, I gotta head back. My boss'll have my head if I'm not back at work soon. But, I can meet you back here later tonight, ok?"

Matilda blushed as he took her hand and she shook his. "Alright. Thank you." Matilda replied before heading off. On the bright side, she had always wanted to do the 'You can't fire me! I quit!' Scene, even if it was a rather silly comeback that didn't make sense, she appreciated the dramatic flare.
