(Not it)

(I would prefer introduction to the scene, because I wouldn't want to have the wrong idea.)

Ok)
James woke to a pleasant smell roaming throughout the house. He got out of his bed and proceeded downstairs to the kitchen where he saw his sister, Julie making breakfast. Egg fritters. Julie loved to cook, and was 2 year older than James. Both of them still lived with their parents. It's not that they couldn't afford it, but it was because their mother had fallen ill years ago, and slowly grew worse, so they decided to stay at home until their mother grew better. Their father wasn't exactly in great shape either. He sat down at the table, waiting for his food. Julie smiled brightly "Morning."
James groaned back, still tired. "So, is that the way we're going to greet each other now?" James shook his head. "Tired. Mill work. Again. Just like always." Julie sighed. "When are you going to find something new to do? You've been working there for pretty much 10 years." "Soon." James replied. He ate his breakfast, and began to read the paper. -
Matilda sighed and rocked back and forth in the park bench she was sitting in. She lost them. She lost the packages she was supposed to deliver. She put them down for one minute... One minute to wash her face at a park fountain after a stranger sneezed on her. They were stolen, and now... Now she would get fired. She would get fired and then she wouldn't be able to afford food. In order to buy food, she would have to use the money she was saving for a home. Even then, that would only last her a week. "One minute..." She muttered, hugging her arms. "You had one job!" She scolded herself. Then she took a deep breath, rubbing the bench to calm herself down. "Getting panicked won't help. Getting panicked won't solve the problem. I can't have a melt down... That will just make it worse..." Matilda told herself.
She took in a deep breath before getting up and walking down the path. The package had a bag of rice, one turkey, and two boxes of instant roasted garlic mashed potatoes. So if Matilda bought those at the store with the money from her savings, she would deliver those and not get fired. She would be behind on her savings... But she would still be able to eat. -
Bastion awoke in the forest. He looked at the sun and said "Man, what a beautiful day." He slowly rose to his mechanical feet and his bird, Ganymede, was on his shoulder, sleeping. He started to walk some more to explore more of the forest.

After eating, James made his way up to his room to bathe before work. After bathing, he got dressed, and attached his prosthetic arm to his body. He clenched the hand of his artificial left arm to make a fist. It moved very slow. He grabbed an oil canister, and opened a compartment in the arm. Steam hissed out of it. It was as he suspected. The gears were locking up. He dropped a few drops of oil from the canister, and closed the compartment. The artificial hand began to function just as a regular hand would. He made his way outside and began to walk to work. The saw mill wasn't very far from where he lived, so he didn't have much to think about. He clocked in and began to get to work. Not too many of his fellow employees were there. He knocked on his boss's door and asked where they were. "Mr. Danson, where are Rod, Mike, and Dortson?" His boss looked up from his desk and replied puzzled. "They aren't back yet? I sent them 2 hours ago to get lumbar from the woods. Can you go fetch them for me, Mr. Scott?" James nodded, and made his way to the woods. He wasn't incredibly far into the woods, but far enough he couldn't see the saw mill. The bright orange sky was blanketed by the light and dark green leaves of the tall trees surrounding him. He eventually found the three hiding behind a bush. He walked up to them, and before he could say anything, James was sussed. 'What are you guys doing? Danson's going to have your heads! James whispered. The attention of the three men weren't on James, it was on something else. And soon, James directed his attention to the same thing. A huge robot walking through the woods. "We could make so much money off of this thing if we report it!" Dortson said. "If you do that, then the police will get involved with the company, because it happened during your work shift. Stay out of it, Dortson." James whispered.

Bastion didn't see the people looking at him and noticed on his arm gun, the water gauge was low. He knew if his water got too low, he would seize up and stop moving again. He started walking to a nearby river to refill.

Matilda walked through the grocery store and hid when she saw a woman with long, wavy brown hair, grey eyes, and wore a black tank top and jeans. The woman had two children who were equally beautiful with curly red hair and grey eyes. The two girls looked exactly like their mother, except for the hair. The woman's husband had bright green eyes, a muscular build, and long curly red hair. Matilda recognized the woman, who used to be her sister. Matilda watched the woman go buy before coming out of her hiding spot. She breathed anxiously and fidgeted as she walked, picking up the groceries she needed and making sure they were the exact brand.

"It's like an animal drinking water, man!" Dortson chuckled. "Get back to the mill, or else Danson will have your heads. Get some wood too. I'll be shortly behind." James said. The others were skeptical, and after mildly arguing with James they left. James waited until they were gone. He quietly sneaked up on Bastion. "You know, robots are illegal in this time. Or are you some sort of mech?" James asked.
-
Bastion heard the man approaching and turned around. He answered "I'm not a mech. I am Bastion, Unit: #492. You may call me Bastion, how are you?"

Once she was done, Matilda paid for the groceries and went to take a shortcut in the forest. As she walked down the path to the forest, Matilda remembered her sister. During the GAW she got caught in a fire with her sister. Her sister got out but she was unable to get out because she got stuck when having a melt down. Her father went in to get her. She got out alive, and her burns eventually healed. He never came out.
When they got home, Matilda and her sister Jasmine went to the room they shared. Jasmine started yelling at Matilda, about how it was Matilda's fault their father died. How it was Matilda's fault that her parents never had enough time to spend at her school events or money for her parties because they were always getting speech therapy and going to special needs meetings. Jasmine through her shoes at Matilda, then went to bed, saying that she wished Matilda had died in that fire. Matilda ran away that night and had been hiding from her family since. Matilda sighed at the painful memories, wiping her tears off her face. She hid in the bush when she saw two people talking, and watched to see a handsome man with a metal arm talking to a robot. -
"Awesome! A real life robot! And steam powered too!" James laughed as he walked around Batison in astonishment. He snapped back to the hard truth as soon as he finished that sentence. "Wait, no no no no. No. Robots are illegal. Any form of artificial intelligence was banned after the GAW. Even steam powered ones. Where did you come from? I don't want to turn you in, but we can't have you wondering the forest. Someone might see you. Then you'll get scrapped. I can't be responsible for killing a life form of any kind. Not after what happened in the war."
James shuddered. The War. He hated killing. Even if he had to. The war had events that people, or history books for that matter, didn't even know. There were people in the war who had fought by the machines they had created, from all around the war. James remembered raiding and killing a man in a hut harboring a robot. What he didn't know was that his family was in the next room. He didn't know at least until they came out of hiding. James didn't want to kill anymore after that. No matter what form of life it was.
"Do you have a home or a creator, big guy?" -
Bastion answered "If only I could remember. The last thing I can remember is that I was sent on an important mission during the GAW. I can't even remember the mission. I somehow got deactivated and this little bird woke me up. I've been wandering around these woods ever since."
