Matilda watched the man in curiosity. She enjoyed watching his passion, and his care. She listened to his words and smiled, a false sense of security overcoming her. "What happened in the war?" She asked him, quickly covering her mouth and holding her breath. Her senses coming back to her, her skin went pale and she hid deeper into the bush, trying to breath a quietly as she could.

James darted around. "Who's there? Show yourself! You won't harm this bot nor will you turn it in. Come out now!" Watching the bushes, James continued to talk to Batison. "You were made during the war?" James gasped. This was a good thing actually. And, it gave James a brilliant idea. Either that or a terrible idea. But James was certain about one thing. Batison was a special robot. He was a key to something great. He looked back at him. "You are exactly what this world needs." He smiled widely at the robot.

Matilda listened to the conversation and felt secure again from the man's harmless manor. She slowly stood up from her hiding place, fidgeting anxiously and looking at the man. "I am not here to hurt the robot..." She told him shyly. "I'm just taking a short cut." She told him, nervously continuing on her path.

Bastion said "I wasn't made during the war. I was made before it. My units were made to try and protect humanity. But you think the world still needs me, then I'll do want I need to do."

James nodded. "Taking a short cut.. makes sense. People usually stop to see wonders on their travels anyway. And this big guy right here, is the greatest wonder of all." James was still astonished. "You're right, Bastion, the world needs you. You're going to save the world, and the best part is, you don't even have to fight your way through it."
(I just realized that I kept saying batison. My bad. I type really fast and don't pay attention after the fact that I screwed up.) -
(Wouldn't he ask why she was hiding? I'm assuming that this is when they meet, and she talks to them long enough that people start to look for them, and that makes them go on the run.

Matilda smiled at the man's passion as she studied him. She decided he wasn't going to harm before nodding and turning to walk back on her way.

"Wait a minute why were you in the bushes?" James asked, remembering where the stranger had emerged from. "I'm guessing those bushes weren't your home. So why were you in them?"

Matilda paused and turned around. "Well... I was hiding... I didn't want anyone to know I was here." She told him, rocking slightly as she fidgeted nervously. Her eyes studied him, then the sky, then him, then the ground, then him, then from tree to tree. Her eyes never really stood still.

Unsure how to answer the question, Matilda got scared. She remembered that if she wasn't able to answer a question in school because she wasn't sure of the way to answer, they would get angry. She shrugged, fidgeting nervously. "I didn't want anyone to know I was here." She repeated. She then heard her sister and her family coming into the forest for a family walk and began to run away.

"Hey, wait up!" James said, running after the girl. He didn't want her to get hurt. Maybe people were after her. Either way, he couldn't let anything happen to her. He couldn't be responsible for harming or anyone else harming another human being.
