Gamma chuckled nervously and said "I don't know about that. I'm carefully designed, I don't know if I want people tinkering with me." Norik said "You don't get to pick your rank. You must agree to become Guardians and accept the journey that comes with it. The I will perform the ritual and you will be given your rank." He stood up and said "If you accept this great task raise your fist in the air and shout "GUARDIANS" Gamma stood up and shouted "GUARDIANS"
-
Matilda blinked. This all seemed pretty corny. She didn't like the idea of doing anything foolish. Clearly Sally had different feelings because she quickly stood up and yelled "GAURDIANS!!!" "Isn't this a bit corny?" Matilda asked, frowning a bit.
-
Embla rolled her eyes, agreeing with Matilda. ''It is one hundred percent corny,'' Embla mumbled, quite disappointed. She had a passion for machinery and she was sure she was good at it. ''But, it's what we have to do, right? Unless this is some stupid joke to make us look like idiots,'' Embla mumbled. ''Guardians,'' She said, her voice slightly raised to be considered a ''yell''.
-
Grantor stalled for a bit. It was corny but if he was going to save his family, he needed to do it. He stood up with the rest and in a deadpan voice said "Guardians."
-
-
Matilda rolled her eyes and raised her hand. I don't know why the f*** I have to do this. But oh well. She thought. "Gaurdians." She stated.
-
Bored, Embla sat forward, resting her elbow against her knee with her head resting in her palm. ''Now, what Norik? What are we supposed to do now?'' Embla questioned, her gaze shifting to the elder Dracomorph wizard.
-
Norik said "Patience." He started chanting a spell and as he chanted the fire began to grow upwards until it became a column. Norik then said "Shallalpo." and a ball of light formed at the top of the fire. It split into five rays and started burning the appropriate marks for the Guardians on their raised arms. Sally was given the Star for the Mage. Embla was given the Earth for Brains. Gamma was given the Asteroid for Brawns. Grantor was given the Moon for Second-In-Command. And last but certainly not least, Matilda was given the Sun for the Leader.
-
"So... What do they mean?" Matilda asked, examining the mark of a sun. Sally winced at the burn but smiled, tracing the Star with her finger.
-
A slight sensation tingled in her arm as she shrugged off her long-sleeved fur coat. The coat folded down on her lap. Embla folded her white blouse sleeve to reveal an Earth symbol, on her arm. ''Why do we need such a symbol to represent who we are? Is it meant to be honorable?'' Embla questioned, her eyebrow raised in curiosity.
-
Norik said "It's tradition. The Star means the Mage. Asteroid for brawns, Earth for Brains, Moon for Second in Command and Sun for Leader." Gamma said "Cool. So now what?" Norik said "You must go the nearby city of Hocatate and buy supplies from an old Orc friend of mine named Bomonga. He will give you what you need to fight the Malice. He will then tell you what to do next."
-
Matilda smiled. Being a leader was a new challenge. She was confident she could fulfill it. "I'll be honoured to lead." Matilda told them. "I'm already noting everyone's strengths and weaknesses. I'll announce the results at a team meeting when I am done." She told them, studying the members.
-
''Taking notes of everyone's strengths and weaknesses, the results?'' Embla laughed. ''Matilda, being a leader doesn't mean taking notes about us as if we're test rats, you lead us into the right direction not document whether it's capable of us to become the Malice and the results of afterward,'' Embla said, her brows furrowed. ''You test different materials for a new engine, or test for a new disease, I quite don't like being a test rat,'' Embla added, not liking the way of her thinking everyone was just a test subject in a way.
-
Grantor said "Yeah, a good leader is supposed to motivate and inspire the team to engage with a vision, i.e. the Malice."
-
"No. You miss understand. I need a list of strengths and weaknesses so I can plan strategies. For example, Gamma and Sally don't seem to like causing death. So I would try not to make them be near a situation where we would need to kill. Grantor wants to protect and save his family. So I would make sure we try our best to protect innocent or intelligent life." Matilda explained. "Wow. I actually think that sounds smart." Sally replied. "Don't attack me. I have to say nice things." She told the others. "Wow. You're mean for an angel." Matilda commented. Sally's Halo glowed So she stayed silent and turned her head back to the fire.
