Dorvakin said "It's my shift. There are other warriors that patrol these areas. We mostly are there to warn if any of you high elves are planning an invasion."
-
Elbereth laughed at his words and looked in his direction. ''Invasion? We would never wish to cross your paths, you lot are nothing but, trouble. To our God, you're nothing but sinners, evildoers if you please,'' Elbereth mumbled. ''Us High Elves are here to balance the good and evil of this planet,'' Elbereth hummed. ''We're far more clever than you may believe, Drow,'' Elbereth continued, still matching his pace.
With a moment of silence, a moment of hesitation she bit her bottom lip. ''Though,'' She began, twiddling her fingers. ''Why is it you believe such a thing? We may dislike each other,'' Elbereth said, her eyes scanning him up and down. ''Though my mother and father don't have wishes of invading your lands,'' those words didn't apply to her. She wished for nothing more than to prove to the Drows the High Elves deserved to control these wondrous lands. -
Dorvakin said "We are not evil, you are the evil ones. You, scholars come to our village every year to mock our children and those you capture on your land are thrown in the dungeon and kept as slaves. And you don't even respect nature the way we do."
-
Elbereth fumed with anger at his comment. His words were truthful but, some bits and pieces were false accusations. ''We are not evil! We practice light magic whilst you Drows practice dark magic. It is clear to see through anyone's eyes that you're evil. I respect nature far better than any other High Elf shall. I'm not evil, even if I was I would've left you for dead, no? That Dire wolf would've killed you!'' Elbereth said, her voice full of hate and anger. ''Please hurry along now, I want to go home,'' She growled in disgust.
-
Dorvakin said "True, and if I was the evil one then I would have ditched you a long time ago. But for the record, we Drow have tried using light magic. It doesn't work."
-
Elbereth huffed, arms crossed over her chest. ''Why did you Drows try the practice of light magic? You're best skilled in dark magic,'' Elbereth said, fiddling with her ring. ''Only us High Elves are capable of such thing, so why attempt it?'' She questioned, her eyes on Dorvakin, memorizing his rough features.
-
Dorvakin said "Because, we wanted to. Why don't you High Elves learn dark magic? Are you too good for it?"
-
''Of course, we're far too good for such dark magic! We're saints, not sinners,'' Elbereth said, her brows furrowed. She glanced towards the trees, eyebrows furrowed. Elbereth stared at the canopies, admiring the sway of the leaves and branches as they walked through the forest. ''We don't practice dark magic cause our God told us not to,'' Elbereth hummed. ''We had strong faith in our religion,'' Elbereth lifted her skirt, as she approached an abandoned log. She balanced herself on the log, to keep herself from growing bored.
-
(I had an idea, what if one of the reasons they fall in love is because they have the same god and neither tribe realized it.)
Dorvakin said "Our God told us to study dark magic for defense. We have faith too because despite what your kind thinks, we are not sinners." -
Sure, sounds good.)
Elbereth placed one foot in front of the other as she walked along the log. ''Defense for what?'' Elbereth snickered. ''You, Drows are sinners, I've been told for years since birth that you are nothing but, cruel creatures and acted as devilish beasts. You're foolish, and for one, quite the trickster,'' Elbereth said, soon hopping of the log once it came to an end. She had leaped onto a thick circular slice of wood, placed near the log. Someone must have taken a break from sawing to tend elsewhere. -
Dorvakin said "Maybe I am, but you High Elves are no better than us. I've been told from birth, you are stuck up and don't appreciate what you have, instead choosing to take more than needed. Plus your kind killed my father." He looked at the land marks and knew the border was close.
-
Elbereth grew silent, and bit her bottom lip to swallow down her remarks. ''Well, we may be given more than we have earned hut, for we are saints. We may act as the superior race for we show class and are sophisticated. I am deeply sorry for your lost but this bad blood between will never subside,'' Elbereth said, her brows furrowed. She skipped of the slice of wood, landing on the grass. ''Dorvakin, I'm sure whoever killed your father didn't mean it,'' Elbereth added, head hanging low.
-
Dorvakin didn't believe her when she said the last line and said "Sure they didn't." He came to the border and said "We're here, now go away."
-
Elbereth stood at the border, the Elvish Knights patrolling came to her side, defending her from the Drow. ''Madam Elbereth, please come with us and away from this Drow,'' The blonde warrior grumbled, as his sharp blue eyes remained on Dorvakin. ''Let me have a word with the man for one moment please,'' Elbereth said, approaching him. ''I apologize but, let us never meet again,'' She said, turning.
Elbereth continued down the dirt paths of the Elvish tribe, following until reached the large tent of the school where many of the Elves were taught. There sitting at a table was her scholar, Dahl. She approached the man, head held high. ''The assignment was comple-'' He held his hand up to interrupt the maiden. ''I don't think so Ellie,'' Dahl stood to his feet, a charming smirk on his lips. ''You received help, now you will have a punishment for cheating,'' Dahl said. He handed her a slip.
The letters seemed rushed and looked quite like a mess. Her brows furrowed in anger and displeasure. With nightfall to come, she is to have a meal and prepare herself for a hunt. After her feast, Elbereth will be thrown in the middle of the forest for the young children to hunt for her. If caught, she is to be humiliated by a punishment her father will request.
''This is utter madness! The other Elves agree to such cruel activity,'' Elbereth said hands clenching the letter.
''Ah, it is a fitting punishment for you, Ellie,'' Dahl said, shoving her out of the tent. ''Run along now, go eat and drink, you deserved it after the long walk, now prepare yourself for an unforgettable hunt!'' Dahl added with his farewell. -
Dorvakin said "Whatever." and walked away. He continued his shift until later. Dorvakin returned home and was greeted by his Dire Wolf, Scout. He petted Scout and gave him a treat. He then opened a bottle of ale to drink.
