Elbereth halted, hearing soft echoing footsteps behind her as she climbed the steps leading to the exit of the dungeon. She looked over her shoulder to see the male servant behind her. Her brows furrowed a bit but, all she could think of was him returning to his chores. Elbereth waited on the stairwell's landing for the servant, a grin on her lips.
-
The Drow got nervous when he saw the princess stop for him. He thought quick and said "I'm just following you to get to my chores in the king's room."
-
''Well, it's alright...um,'' Elbereth hesitated, a gentle smile on her lips. ''What is your name?'' She questioned, fumbling with the rings on her fingers. ''It would've been rude if I called you a servant,'' Elbereth added, her brows furrowed, licking her lips in thought.
-
He answered "My name is Escopi Rerlino, miss." That was his real name and he had hoped the princess hadn't discovered he was a Drow. He figured High Elves might have similar sounding names.
-
''Mr. Rerlino,'' Elbereth said, the name rolling off her tongue. ''Mr. Rerlino, did my father mentioned why he wished to see me?'' Elbereth asked, her brows furrowed. ''Normally he would say unless it's an important matter,'' Elbereth said, walking beside Escopi.
-
Escopi said "He said he just wanted to see if you were okay and to discuss the fate of that Drow in the dungeon."
-
''I see, possibly to talk about the fate of the Drow,'' Elbereth muddled, the words flooded past her lips. She licked her lips and looked at Escopi. ''Mr. Rerlino, how is it? Working for us?'' She questioned, trying to make decent conversation.
-
Escopi said "It puts bread on the table, I really can't complain." He wondered why the princess was trying to talk to him. Did she find out already who he was.
-
''Well, that sounds good enough, I guess,'' Elbereth mumbled, twirling a lock of her hair. ''Escopi, do you perhaps despise the Drows like many of our Elvish population?'' Elbereth questioned her eyes on the upcoming dungeon door.
-
Escopi said "Um, yes. Yes I do." Escopi cringed inside as he said those words. He felt terrible that he had to insult his people and had to listen to others do the same thing while undercover.
-
-
''That's...um, unfortunate,'' The princess mumbled. ''I've come to think, we Elves, we're too quick to judge the supposed lowly species. Perhaps, if we were to come to some sort of compromise amongst us Elves maybe we'll be able to make a peace with them,'' The princess suggested being slow and calming. ''Though, we Elves are just the way we are not much can change I supposed,'' Elbereth said, a forced, breathy laugh escaping her lips.
-
Escopi said "Maybe." He kept walking, trying to get Elbereth to her father the king quickly.
-
Suddenly, a soothing silence filled that air as the two reached the King's quarters. She knocked, once then twice as soft, gentle muttering filled the air. ''Mother, father, may I come in? Mr. Rerlino is here with me,'' Elbereth announced. Moments later, her father had opened the door. His tired but, gentle eyes laid on her figure as he sighed, feeling much calmer with his daughter in sight. ''Yes, please come in,'' He muttered as the queen sat at the foot of the bed, her eyes firm and harsh.
-
Escopi just grabbed a broom and started sweeping the room.
