''It has to be tonight, only the castle folk know you're here if any of our civilians had the slightest idea of you being in my room and that fact that the guards thought you tried to kidnap me or worse,'' Elbereth said, explaining, as she led him out of his cell and up the dungeon's stairs. ''It's better explaining to the castle folk that you escaped and ran back to your people,'' She added, looking down the halls of the castle, making sure the coast is clear.
-
Dorvakin just shrugged and followed Elbereth. He tried not to fall back asleep along the way.
-
-
''Careful now,'' Elbereth whispered, her words carrying into the breeze. ''Don't need you falling asleep,'' She said, holding Dorvakin close. She led him through the halls, with the moonlight and candles shining their paths. ''It should be just passed these doors,'' Elbereth announced, leading through a door, looking down the halls, making sure others wouldn't see them going through.
-
Dorvakin continued to follow, making sure they weren't followed themselves.
-
The doors led through into a small dark hallway, with only one candle to light the way. Elbereth grabbed the candle holder, the light brightening their path. The slim hallway leads to another door that opened up into what seems to be a private courtroom for royals' affairs. Her mother and father were seated around one of the large tables. There sat with them, a white-haired woman with green eyes. ''Caroline,'' Elbereth whispered. The woman hated the Drows, all due to her rumored past having been married to one and left with two unknown children soon after. The rumors weren't yet to be clarified by Caroline. ''Welcome, welcome, you must be the Drow?'' Caroline said, standing and approaching Dorvakin.
-
Dorvakin sarcastically said "What tipped you off? My hair or my skin?"
-
''Both,'' Caroline stated, grabbing Dorvakin by the arm and leading him to the table. Elbereth followed close behind, her mother and father worried. ''I decide if you live or die, now you best hush up, boy,'' Caroline said, forcing him into the seat beside Elbereth. Caroline took a seat at the ends of the table, glaring at the four. ''Now, this meeting is to remain secret, the public eye must never know of you, the Drow, being in the Kingdom,'' Caroline began. ''And the people must never know of our affairs,'' She continued. ''Now, Drow, what is it you were doing in the princess's room? You have no right to remain silent, you must tell the truth. The second you lie, you will be executed,'' Her words were enchanting as she placed a bottle of clear liquid. If the truth was told, it will shine green, if lied it'll shine a deathly red, and if unsure will turn black.
-
Dorvakin wasn't sure what to say. It's doubtful they would believe he and Elbereth were dating and even if they did what would be the casualty for it. He said "I decline to answer, for the matter is secret."
-
The liquid changed to black, Caroline understanding he wasn't going to corporate. ''If you don't speak about your reason for being in a maiden's room, you deserve death,'' Caroline announced, the king and queen prepared to leave. ''Dorvakin, speak up to save your life,'' Elbereth pleaded, her voice low in a whisper. ''Miss Caroline, please, isn't death too harsh?'' She questioned, the woman contemplating it.
-
Dorvakin said "Alright fine, I'll tell you the truth. But I doubt you'll believe me."
-
''Doesn't matter if I believe you or not, the potion will tell me whether it's true or not, so speak up, boy,'' Caroline, said, forcing him to continue.
-
Dorvakin took a deep breath and said "I came here to see the princess. We are both in love with each other."
-
Caroline raised her eyebrows as the potion shifted to green, and her gaze shifted to the Royals. The Queen was calm but, obviously disappointed but, the King fumed with rage. ''H-How dare you to say such a thing?! And you came to see my daughter, in her room, how unexpectable! Our enemy, for centuries, and you Elbereth, decided to fall in love with one of them!'' He fumed. ''Now, sir please lower your voice, you may wake the others,'' Caroline stated. She seemed nervous but, kept her cool. ''Now, what else did you want from the princess? So far as going to see her in our lands, you know that is forbidden, correct?'' Caroline questioned.
