Elbereth had awaken by the morning sun and turned herself over in the sheets. She looked at the once burning candle, the flame had been blown out. Her brows furrowed, tired and unwilling to leave her bed.
-
Dorvakin hugged and kissed his mom goodbye as he left to get back to his job of patrol.
-
Elbereth prepared for the day, dressing in a light green color and braiding her hair. The family breakfast was plain and simple, as her other tutor, Mrs. Julis, was to take her into the woods for her new task. Elbereth had left once she was told this information, waiting by the main entrance to the forest.
-
Dorvakin surveyed the land and didn't see anything of interest and no reports of any trolls.
-
Mrs. Julis soon arrived a smile on her lips as she held a small notepad and quill. ''Elle, my dear,'' Mrs. Julis greeted, hugging Elbereth. ''I'n sorry I'm late but, I wish for you to write down observations in the forest and use your magical abilities to see any changes to your powers. I'll be monitoring the whole lesson, so don't be afraid, okay?'' Mrs. Julis instructed as Elbereth nodded. They soon entered the forest, walking at a slow pace.
-
Dorvakin still surveyed the lands. He soon saw Elbereth with someone else so he couldn't get near. He wrote a message on a piece of paper he had and folded it into an plane. He flew it to her to get her attention.
-
Mrs. Julis turned to Elbereth and smiled. ''I'll look for something simple for you to do, help you out with your first observation,'' Mrs. Julis said, as she went over, looking for small rocks or small patches of grass. Elbereth sighed, seeing the paper airplane. She jumped into the air to catch the airplane hiding it in the notebook. Mrs. Julis turned around, a questioning look on her face as Elbereth flashed her a smile. With Mrs. Julis turned her back, Elbereth began reading the letter.
-
The letter said "My dearest Elbereth, Let it be known that you are looking rather beautiful this fine day. Do not fear for I shall not barge in on your studies this day, but be careful. I'm not the only guard on patrol. I will talk with you later. Love Dorvakin."
-
Her heart fluttered at his note and took his warning to heart. ''Elbereth,'' Mrs. Julis called, pulling her from her daydream. ''Ah, y-yes?'' Elbereth questioned as she neared Mrs. Julis, hiding the letter between the sheets of the notebook. Mrs. Jullies pointed to the small patch of grass that was growing in the middle of the road. ''Please write down information about the small patch and location, then take off your rings and attempt to have a flower bloom before us,'' Mrs. Julis hummed, a smile of encouragement on her lips.
-
Dorvakin looked all around see if anything was out of the ordinary and occasionally peeking over at what Elbereth was doing.
-
Elbereth wrote the observation down slowly, and soon was taking her rings off slowly. She hovered her hand on the grass tips. ''Good, good,'' Mrs. Julis hummed, as a small flower began to grow.
-
Dorvakin watched Elbereth grow the flower, silently cheering her on.
-
Elbereth had her confidence sore and the flower continued to grow. The flower continued to grow, the flower growing large. ''Stop, stop, put the rings back on,'' Mrs. Julis stated, as Elbereth placed the rings back on. ''Alright, alright, the flower is too large to be considered as such,'' Mrs. Julis explained. ''Let's continue,'' She said, as Elbereth was disappointed in her own abilities.
-
Dorvakin hoped no one could see that large flower. He thought it would attract some unwanted attention to Elbereth.
-
''Stick with simple observations, for now, Elbereth,'' Mrs. Julis instructed. Elbereth nodded in response. She wrote as many observations to make up for the overgrown flower.
