Nigel couldn't believe what he was hearing. He walked into Azalea's room and saw her sleeping on her bed. He started to cry as he knew this was the same disease that killed his family.

Azalea appeared peaceful, her breathing soft and even and her hand resting across her stomach. It was honestly sweet bliss for the girl, as she stood with her deceased mother, but something felt so wrong. She just felt so happy... Though she kept hearing something from somewhere so far away... Was that... Crying? "Nigel...?" She mumbled, her voice so hoarse it surprised herself.

Nigel heard something. It kinda sounded like a voice. He said "Azalea, can you hear me?"

Azalea attempted to crane open her eyes and forced a smile, "I can... But you're so far away..." She whispered, balling her fist and gripping her blankets.

Nigel walked closer, grabbed Azalea's hand and said "I'm right here and I'm glad your wake."

Azalea squeezed his hand, tears flowing down her cheeks, "I can't open my eyes.... I can't see.... Is that what death's like?"

Nigel said "I'm not sure, but your not dead yet. If only I knew of a cure."

Azalea coughed up a bit of blood, "I'm so sorry, Nigel... I needed someone I could trust to rule in my place... I didn't think this would happen so soon..."

Nigel said "What do you mean?"

"I've known I was sick... I've known for months... I had to choose someone to take over after I passed, and I chose you... I didn't know my sickness was so advanced."

Nigel said "It's very nice you trust me like that, but I don't know how to run a kingdom. Are you sure there's nothing I can do to cure you?"

Azalea smiled wryly, "Just stay by my side until the end. That's all I ask..." She murmured, tightening her grip on Nigel's hand.

Nigel closed his eyes and said "I'll be here for you."
