Oliver waited patiently as Douglas paid for the books they got and told the old man and the unicorn girl demons goodbye. He hummed as they walked, shaking his head to the question. "I don't think I do," he replied, keeping his tight grip on the groceries.
-
"Alright. Glad we managed to get all of this in decent time. I think I might be faster with your help," he said, smiling a bit. The walk home wasn't a very long one, so they were back fairly quickly.
-
"Maybe so. I don't have anything to compare today's quickness with, though," he hummed in response, glancing up at Douglas. He had to stop himself a few times from swinging the groceries' bag around, something he had always done at home.
-
Douglas had completely forgotten the comment from earlier, which greatly lifted his spirits. Once they were pretty much alone on the street, he pulled out the books, looking at the one that Oliver had picked. Flipping through, he realized that all of the demons in it were humanoid. They all... looked like him. Was this what humans thought demons were supposed to look like? His faint smile growing, he glanced at his servant and asked, "Why'd you pick out this book?"
-
Oliver hummed as they walked, only glancing to look at Douglas when he said something about the book full of drawing he had picked out. "Oh! I really love to draw, and I'm pretty good at if I do say so myself, and I wanted to draw some demons. I never have really drawn them before, so I thought that maybe a book with drawings full of them would help me a bit. I normally draw animals and normal humans, but you guys are just so detailed," he said with a sigh, realizing he was rambling.
-
He was about to tell him that he was probably one of the few demons in Hell that looked like these, but held his tongue. "I could have modeled for you, if you wanted." When they got home, the griffin demon was outside, which made their trip upstairs much easier.
-
Oliver didn't think that all the demons looked like freaks and that Douglas was one of the few that looked someone human. He nodded in response, not really sure what else he could say in this situation. He was, for once, thankful for the griffin demon due to the fact he was holding a quite heavy bag of groceries at the moment.
-
Once they walked inside, Douglas pointed at a couple specific places, and a few of the candles lit, filling the room with soft, yellow glow that mingled with the daylight. He held out his hand for the grocery bag. "I'll put things away, if you'd like."
-
Oliver was still amazing at how to candles lit up even though it wasn't the first time he had seen the demon perform magic in front of him. He handed the grocery bag to Douglas, giving him a small smile and a nod. He swayed a little from side to side as he waited for further instruction. He didn't want to do something he wasn't supposed to do or something Douglas didn't want him to do.
-
"Uh... could you go put this in my study? There's an old dresser in there, too. It has some art supplies, so you're free to use whatever." He handed over the books and walked into the kitchen. As Oliver headed upstairs, Douglas called, "Put my book on my chair, not my desk, please!" He didn't want anything on the desk to be disturbed.
-
Oliver nodded quickly and took the books from him, jumping up the stairs two at a time. "Kay!" He called down in response, hurrying over to the study. He opened the door and threw the demon's book down on his chair and was about to go over to the old dresser Douglas had told him about, but he was curious about what was on the desk. He walked over slowly and set the rest of the books down as he began to go through everyone on the desk.
-
(Do not go through the drawers. Also did I mention the accent)
Douglas set to putting away the groceries, and did so fairly quickly. Besides, they were mostly fruits and vegetables, which meant a lot of them went in the same place. A few minutes later, he headed upstairs, going straight to his study. He walked in on his servant rudely snooping around. -
(Kay~ I don't think so, what accent?)
Oliver didn't know he wasn't supposed to be looking at the stuff on the desk, he didn't know better, so he continued to look, not even noticing that the demon had made his way to the study already. He hummed as he looked at sheets of papers and documents, none of which he could fully understand. -
(I think he has a British accent, though when I've been looking at them I think it's more of a Received Pronunciation type? Like standard BBC broadcasters and whatnot)
Since the human was already here, he might as well get some use out of him. Douglas coughed, loudly. "Since you're so eager to go through my work, why don't you help me? I have some human items I just can't seem to figure out, and I'd appreciate your experience and insight." He walked over and started to reorganize the worst of what Oliver had done. -
(I see. Fair enough.)
Oliver turned his head when the demon coughed loudly, giving him a small smile. "Sure, I can help," he responded as he watched Douglas try to reorganize the mess he made. "I'm sorry, I was just a bit curious. You demons are really interesting creatures," Oliver said with a grin.
